Study On The Regional Characteristics Of Guild Hall Architecture In The Ming And Qing Dynasties In Suzhou Wuxi Changzhou Area

During the Ming and Qing dynasties,the economic development of the Suzhou Wuxi Changzhou area had typical consistency and cultural commonality.Not only did people who lived in that time have a general psychological identity,but also the architecturally regional characteristics were distinctive during that period.The previous analysis and research on the regional characteristics of guildhall buildings located in the Suzhou Wuxi Changzhou area regions were not sufficient.For this reason,this paper firstly uses the literature analysis method to extensively read the ancient books of the guildhall and the existing literature research regarding this field.The research method sorts out and summarizes the development path and the reasons for the rise and fall of the guildhall buildings in Suzhou,Wuxi and Changzhou.Based on two perspectives,including the "local identity" and "cultural memory",this paper analyzes and studies the regional characteristics of the guildhall buildings in the Suzhou Wuxi Changzhou area during the Ming and Qing dynasties."Local identity" is to discover the geographical environment,spatial layout,and construction skills of the Suzhou Wuxi Changzhou area,and sort out the regional characteristics of the Suzhou Wuxi Changzhou guildhall buildings.Meanwhile,this study also organizes and summarizes the regional characteristics of the guildhall buildings in the Suzhou Wuxi Changzhou area under the influence of "cultural memory".This paper developed further study and analysis through six chapters.The first chapter is the introduction,which clarifies the research object,scope,and content,as well as summarizes the existing related research reviews.The second chapter expounds on the development process,classification,the function of the hall buildings,and the difference between the hall and the public office.The third chapter discusses the formation and development of the guildhalls in Suzhou Wuxi Changzhou in detail.In addition,this part of the study analyzes the temporal and spatial distribution and site selection characteristics of the guildhalls in the Suzhou Wuxi Changzhou area.The fourth chapter expounds on the local features of the guildhall in the Suzhou-XiChang area under the influence of the geographical environment,the building function of the guildhall,and the craftsman’s construction skills from the perspective of local identity.The fifth chapter studies the influence of factors such as the builder identity,the building of origin,and traditional culture regarding the guildhall buildings in the Suzhou Wuxi Changzhou area from the perspective of cultural memory.Furthermore,the sixth chapter summarizes the historically significant value and culture implied in the guildhall buildings in the Suzhou Wuxi Changzhou area.As a result,further corresponding protection and inheritance suggestions are discussed in this chapter too.
