With the development of art and technology,packaging functions are constantly improved,packaging forms are increasingly diversified,and packaging design concepts are gradually enriched.Packaging has begun to serve modern life with new technologies,new materials,new forms and new designs.In the continuous exploration of packaging design,the effects of light and shadow have received more attention in packaging design.Through the analysis of the conception of light and shadow effects,this article concludes that light and shadow have physical,visual,emotional,and cultural effects which can use in packaging design as elements and methods to create new visual sights of the shape,color,space,but also can improve the function,aesthetic and commercial attributes of packaging.By combining theory with real cases,it can be known that the significance of light and shadow effects in packaging design is analyzed from the perspectives of humanization,function,form and aesthetics.At the same time,based on the value of light and shadow effects in packaging design,the result explores the expression of light and shadow effects in packaging from four aspects which are materials,technology,structure and technology.The use of light and shadow effects provides a scientific and reliable method in packaging design.Finally,this article uses this method to design packages for the daily necessities brand "Pick up the light and shadow" which regards light and shadow effects as the brand conception.At the end of the paper,as a critical voice,excessive packaging and light pollution are considered that may appear in packaging design.In short,the packaging design has a positive meaning due to the intervention of light and shadow effects,broadened the boundaries of packaging design,and provided new methods and new ideas for packaging design in the new era.At present,the application of light and shadow effect in packaging design is not widespread,but based on the value potential of light and shadow effect,it can be predicted that under a good grasp of packaging scale design,light and shadow effect will produce more abundant design works in packaging.
