In response to the current shortage of high-quality cigar raw materials in China,this study collected 14 varieties including Cuba No.1,Cuba No.4,and Cuba No.5,as well as 91 hybrid prepared using Griffing(II)method in Sichuan as experimental materials.By collecting and measuring the leaf number,stem leaf angle,and plant height agronomic traits of various quality materials,conventional chemical components such as total nitrogen,plant alkaloids,and total sugar in the initial tobacco leaves were detected The physical characteristics such as stem content and equilibrium moisture content were evaluated and selected for excellent hybrid using methods such as analysis of variance,comparative advantage(with Dexue No.1 and Dexue No.3 as controls),principal component analysis,etc.The main research results are as follows:1.The results of variance analysis showed significant differences in all 11 agronomic traits except for branch thickness,leaf evenness,and branch evenness.A total of 20 hybrid have more leaves than Dexue No.1 and Dexue No.3,and Indonesia No.1 × Dexue No.1 and Indonesia No.1 × The leaves of four hybrid,including Dexue No.3,are thinner than those of Dexue No.1 and Dexue No.3.Principal component analysis extracted four principal components,with variance contribution rates of 31.11%,19.78%,13.84%,and 11.06%,respectively.The highest overall score was Cuba No.9 × Cuba No.6.2.According to the cigar evaluation system provided by Deyang Tobacco Company,scores were assigned to the corresponding germplasm materials,resulting in a score table for the physical characteristics of 96 cigar initial blend tobacco leaves and coats.Cuba No.5has the highest score for the physical properties of cigar and cigar clothing × Nicaragua No.2.The variance contribution rates of the two principal components extracted by principal component analysis are 33.72% and 24.77%,respectively.The resulting double label plot shows that Cuba No.5 × Slovenia No.1 and Cuba No.7 × Cuba No.6 and others are close to Dexue No.1 and Dominica No.2 × Nicaragua No.2 and Nicaragua No.2 × Indonesia No.1and others are close to Dexue No.3.3.The results of variance analysis of routine chemical components in 96 cigar tobacco samples showed significant differences in total N,total sugar,reducing sugar,plant alkaloids,and nitrogen alkali ratio,indicating significant genetic differences and variations among these five chemical components among germplasm materials.The total nitrogen content of21 cigars ranges from 1.4% to 2.7%,and the alkaloid content of 5 germplasms ranges from1% to 2%.There were 28 hybrid with total N content exceeding the control,39 hybrid with total sugar content exceeding the control,30 hybrid with reduced sugar content exceeding the control,81 hybrid with plant alkaloid content exceeding the control,and 3 hybrid with nitrogen alkali ratio exceeding the control.The results of the principal component double label plot show that Cuba No.5 × Dominica No.2 is close to Dexue No.1,Dexue No.1 ×Cuba No.6 is close to Dexue No.3.The average plant height of Cuba No.4× Dexue No.3,Indonesia No.1× Dexue No.1 and Norway No.1 × Dexue No.1 were 204.7 cm,226.3 cm and 199.6cm,the average number of leaves was 19,22 and 22,and the physical characteristics scores were 9.25,9.43 and 9.21,respectively.
