| Western Han jade inherited the gems of pre-Qin jade and inspired the jade of the Tang and Song dynasties,and has an important position in the history of Chinese jade.It is noteworthy that there are often divine beasts such as dragons,phoenixes and chi dragons in jade,and these divine beasts are a combination of various animal shapes.The composite motifs are paired with each other in orderly combinations and intricately connected to form different composite jade objects.These two types of composite jade objects are highly imaginative and artistically appealing in traditional Chinese jade,presenting a unique artistic style.Based on the research results of archaeology,sociology and arts and crafts,this paper explores the design methods and artistic styles of Western Han composite jade from the perspective of art design,explores the design concepts and cultural connotations contained in them,and explores the innovative methods of Western Han composite jade in modern design.First,we analyze and discuss the development of composite jade in the Western Han Dynasty and the context of the era in which it was created.The history of the development of composite jade before the Western Han Dynasty is sorted out.The background of the development of composite jade from the sources of jade materials,jade treatment techniques,and carving techniques in the Western Han Dynasty is discussed.The cultural context of composite jade in the Western Han Dynasty is also analyzed from the perspectives of politics,religion,and art,which influenced the pattern,shape,and style of composite jade in the Western Han Dynasty and explored the factors that produced its aesthetics.Second,the pattern and form of Western Han composite jade objects are classified.The excavation reports are used as the basis for sorting through the images and materials of the research samples to summarize the basic overview of Western Han composite jade wares.The pattern of Western Han composite jade vessels is divided into "decorative composite" and "stylized composite",and the form is divided into "overall composite" and "partial composite" according to the pattern."partial composite type","derived copy type",and "additional image type".Again,we analyze the design methods,artistic styles,and design concepts of Western Han composite jade from three perspectives,and analyze and interpret the inner rules and design methods of Western Han composite jade in terms of shape layout,dynamic distribution,and ornament combination.It also summarizes the artistic style from three aspects: line use,modeling art,and expression form,and concludes that the design concept of Western Han composite jade vessels is "similar to each other,interconnected and intermingled,unrestrained and full,unreal and romantic.Finally,based on the design theory of Western Han composite jade,we explore its modern redesign practice.The branding of the Western Han composite jade art exhibition,"Hanyu Yongsheng",extracts the valuable visual and cultural symbolic language of the Western Han composite jade pattern and reconstructs it by using modern art design methods to design and practice the brand image system,establishing a brand and cultural system for cultural innovation and effective communication,and enhancing the public’s awareness of the Western Han composite jade.The design practice is to establish a brand and cultural system that is culturally innovative and effective in communication,to enhance the public’s cultural identity of Western Han composite jade,to explore the modern design value of Western Han composite jade,and to inherit its profound and excellent artistic and cultural connotation. |
