The development of production technology and cultural innovation has promoted enterprises to adopt competitive means to respond to the personalized needs of consumers.Custom furniture based on mass production is the hot spot in the industry.The research hotspot has gradually shifted from the related research topics of "production and manufacturing" and "information collection" to the related research topics of "furniture design","after-sales service" and "digitalization".Custom furniture can not rely on fixed molded products,but need to respond to different consumers’ apartment space and personality preferences,and carry out custom furniture design at the terminal.However,due to the cognitive barrier of customers to customized services,the design work that enterprises are eager to achieve in order to promote orders,and the lack of designers’ work experience and professional ability,there is a lack of effective communication between designers and customers,problems in the connection between custom furniture and other processes of residential decoration,and furniture products do not respond to the real needs of customers.In this case,this paper introduces the concept and method of co-design into the design of terminal customized furniture,guides customers and designers to cooperate in co-design of customized furniture according to their own demands and abilities,helps designers work more effectively,and helps customers obtain furniture products and process experience that better matches their needs.First of all,starting with the relevant theoretical research on co-design and custom furniture,through literature research,case analysis and enterprise research,this paper combs and summarizes the relevant theories and development of co-design,co-design process and tools,the main body and application type of furniture co-design,the definition and classification of custom furniture,and the design service modes of three custom furniture manufacturers,It provides theoretical guidance and practical reference for the co-design of custom furniture.Secondly,combined with the value co-creation model proposed by Cova and the co-design process proposed by Sanders and Staplers,the research was carried out from three aspects: designer and customer input,designer and customer interaction,and designer and customer acquisition.Through observation,designer interview and customer interview,the interview text was coded and analyzed to build ten dimensions of custom furniture co-design practice,including the "trust" between designers and customers,"work ability" and "work well-being",aiming at the "technicality","initiative","privacy" and "timeliness" of the interaction process,and aiming at the "aesthetics","practicality" and "symbolism" of furniture products,through the designer questionnaire survey and customer questionnaire survey,the practice status and preferences of designers and customers in all dimensions were got.Finally,with the help of persona and user journey map tools,this paper analyzes the pain points and optimization opportunities of both sides in each service stage,and puts forward an improved co-design process of custom furniture and a improved practice method of key nodes.This paper systematically summarizes the co-creation methods of custom furniture designers and customers for terminal custom furniture design,including the co-design process formed by ten co-creation practices and the detailed elaboration of eight key nodes extracted from them,which are "cooperation and matching","demand discussion" and "demand transformation" in the early stage of design,the "conceptual design of some furniture" and "design evaluation of some furniture" in the generation and evaluation stage and "final scheme confirmation",and "production and installation" and "exhibition and dissemination" in the post stage of design.In each key node,the goal,the input of characters,the co-creation behavior in the node,the methods and tools,the acquisition of characters,as well as reference time and other collaborative personnel elements are described in detail.Through the practice and the scoring evaluation after the application of designers,it shows that this scheme is feasible and effective.To sum up,this study provides guiding suggestions and specific implementation methods for custom furniture designers to guide customers to carry out custom furniture co-design,and provides a reference basis for enterprises to allocate cooperate resources,so as to improve designers’ work efficiency and well-being,improve customer satisfaction,provide a unique research perspective for furniture customization services,and provide a theoretical basis for realizing custom furniture co-design.
