As awareness of ecological protection grows,the problem of ecological damage in the children’s furniture industry is gradually surfacing.Ecological consumption applies not only to the consumers themselves,but also to the entire production system of the product.When the national policy of multiple births was enacted,the number of children increased year by year,and with it the demand for children’s furniture.At present,there is a wide range of children’s furniture in the market,most of which is overly designed to focus on the shape of the product itself,with a single function and a very short life cycle,leading to the production of a large number of discarded furniture,resulting in a waste of resources and environmental pollution.The high level of pollution in consumerism has accelerated the destruction of the ecological environment in China,and every step of children’s furniture design,from the raw materials to the design process to the final disposal,is responsible for the balance of environmental protection.The concept of eco-consumerism should be re-examined in the design of children’s furniture,taking into account the value of the product itself,its life cycle and the impact of the production process or disposal on resources and the environment as the main consideration,and enhancing the environmental awareness of enterprises and consumers.This thesis focuses on the integration of eco-consumption theory in the modern children’s furniture industry,the presentation of eco-design in the furniture products themselves,and the comparison and analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of children’s furniture brands through market research.The thesis also aims to understand consumer needs and the acceptance of eco-consumerism.The ecological consumption theory will lead to a change in the design direction of children’s furniture,with the use of natural,renewable or recyclable materials to reduce the waste of precious resources;the rational use of effective structural design to achieve the purpose of extending the life cycle of children’s furniture,making multi-functional,dismantling and growing furniture;the use of fewer types of materials and the design of simple structures to facilitate the recycling of furniture after disposal.Reduce environmental pollution after disposal.Use design to meet consumers’ ecological and environmental responsibilities,fulfil the concept of ecological consumption and promote the relationship between people and nature.
