| Due to the development of technology, product design has begun to break away from the previous trend of functional and technological dominance. On the basis of meeting the functionality and practicality of products, users are increasingly paying attention to the appearance of products and the feelings they bring during use.As one of the most common manual tools, the claw hammer is frequently used in our daily lives and is also an essential tool for every household. However, the research on the emotional image modeling of hand tool products such as claw hammers has not received much attention in China, and the innovation and application research of hand tools are not deep enough. In order to meet people’s perceptual consumption needs, explore the possible internal relationship between the shape of the claw hammer and the perceptual image, and provide a new direction for research and development personnel to study the claw hammer. This study takes the claw hammer’s head commonly seen in life as the research object, using the theoretical procedures of perceptual engineering as the basis.Firstly, sample images of the claw hammer’s head are widely collected through various online channels, the final sample images were screened using the KJ method, and the images were numbered after removing interference factors.Through morphological analysis, the claw hammer’s head is analyzed for modeling elements, and different types under the same modeling element are determined.Based on this,a sample matrix of samples and their modeling elements was established.Secondly,a large number of perceptual vocabularies(such as durable and safe)were collected to describe the hammer body of the claw hammer.First,a group interview was conducted to select suitable vocabulary, pairing words with antonyms, then matching them with the final sample and conducting the first questionnaire survey using the Likert scale. Then, factor analysis and cluster analysis were performed on the results, and the final vocabulary pairs were determined. Finally, the final sample image was paired with the final vocabulary, and a second questionnaire survey was conducted using the Likert scale to obtain an evaluation matrix for the claw hammer’s head. The evaluation matrix was modeled and analyzed using the Quantification Theory TypeⅠ,and the correlation degree of each modeling element to the perceptual vocabulary was obtained. The corresponding relationship system between the perceptual vocabulary and modeling elements of the claw hammer’s head was established.Draw a new hammer image based on the model relationship, match the new image with vocabulary, and conduct the final questionnaire survey. The reliability of the relationship model obtained in this study was verified based on the root mean square error theory by combining the perceptual evaluation values of the subjects with the predicted values obtained from the relationship model. This study takes common manual tools in daily life as an example, innovatively applying the theory of perceptual engineering, analyzing and extracting the perceptual images contained in the hammer body, and establishing the relationship between its modeling features and perceptual images. This achievement can provide designers with certain design reference criteria, and at the same time,it opens up a channel for consumers to choose products from the perspective of emotional imagery, further enhancing people’s interest in using manual tools. |
