Research On Public Participation In Environmental Health Risk Management

Environmental contamination causes public health risks.For instance,air pollution not only increases the risk of respiratory infections and lung cancer,but can even lead to premature death.In recent years,environmental health issues have aroused extensive attention of the country and society.The state attaches great importance to environmental health risk management and proposes to strengthen prevention and control of environmental health risks.Public participation is the basis of environmental health risk management,and the willingness of public participation is the key factor to determine the behavior of public participation.The public’s awareness of environmental protection is awakening day by day.Promoting the public’s willingness to participate in environmental health risk management and promoting the whole society’s participation in environmental protection will contribute to the prevention and control of environmental health risks in China.This paper based on policy feedback theory,the hierarchy of needs theory and theory of planned behavior,and used bibliometric analysis,questionnaire survey,quantitative analysis and systematic analysis four research approaches to construct a theoretical model of public participation willingness in environmental health risk management.In addition,this paper analyzed factors influencing public participation and dynamic feedback relationships among them,and discussed the path that public willingness to participate affects participation behavior of environmental health risk management,and found the way to improve public participation in environmental health risk management.There were following findings:(1)Public participation in environmental health risk management in Hunan province had the following issues: the enthusiasm of public participation needs to be improved,the system of public participation needs to be improved,public participation needs to be enhanced,the quality of public participation should be improved;(2)Public demand,behavioral attitude,subjective norm and perceived behavioral control made a significant impact on public willingness to participate in environmental health risk management;(3)The behavior of public participation in environmental health risk management is influenced by their willingness to participate,which specifically involves the level of government incentive to the public,guarantee level of public participation,the level of comprehensive demonstration of public participation and the impact of public demand.In practice,in order to improve the enthusiasm and initiative of public participation in environmental health risk management,to reduce environmental health risk and improve the level of public health esc ort,there are some approaches:focus on the need for public participation,improve the quality of public participation,strengthen information communication with the public,expand channels for public participation,improve the mechanism of public participation.
