Addressing climate change is a great challenge facing mankind in the 21 st century. The Paris Agreement calls for countries around the world to work together to limit global temperature rise to 2 degrees Celsius and 1.5 degrees Celsius. The Chinese government has incorporated climate change into its overall strategy for economic and social development, and has written the concept of green development into the basic requirements for high-quality economic development. In September 2020,General Secretary Xi Jinping made a solemn commitment: China will strive to achieve carbon peak before 2030 and carbon neutrality before 2060.In order to promote the great realization of the "dual carbon" goal, studying the impact of China’s export trade on carbon dioxide emissions is of great significance to guide China to improve environmental quality, reduce environmental pollution and achieve the "dual carbon" goal.Firstly, the theoretical basis and influence mechanism of export trade on carbon emissions are analyzed by theoretical research methods, and the impact of China’s export trade on carbon dioxide emissions is empirically studied by econometric model, and finally, policy suggestions are provided for the development of export trade and the realization of the "dual carbon" goal in the future. Here is the basic structure of the article:Part I,Introduction. It includes the research background, research significance, research content, research methods, literature review, and innovation points and shortcomings of the article. The second part is the analysis of relevant theoretical basis and influence mechanism.Theoretical foundations include the environmental Kuznets curve theory and the pollution paradise hypothesis. The impact mechanism of export trade on carbon emissions includes scale effects, income effects, technology effects and structural effects. The third part is the analysis of the current situation of China’s export trade and carbon emissions.Firstly, the scale of China’s foreign trade from 2000 to 2021 was analyzed, and secondly,China was divided into three major regions, eastern, central and west, and the scale of its export trade was analyzed separately.Secondly,by collecting the data of CEADs China Carbon Accounting Database, the carbon dioxide emissions of China and provinces from 2000 to 2019 were collated and analyzed. In addition, the carbon emission data of some carbon peaking countries and non-carbon peaking countries were collected and compared and analyzed in China.Part IV,Empirical Analysis of the Impact of Export Trade on Carbon Emissions.Based on the above theoretical analysis, this part establishes an econometric model of export trade on carbon emissions, and conducts descriptive statistics, benchmark regression analysis, robustness test and heterogeneity analysis, and tests the impact mechanism of export trade on carbon emissions. The empirical results show that export trade volume has a significant effect on carbon dioxide emissions.According to the results of heterogeneity analysis,it can be seen that the export trade volume of the three major regions has different degrees of impact on carbon dioxide emissions. In addition, export trade will promote the increase of carbon emissions through economies of scale and reduce carbon dioxide emissions through technological effects. At the same time, export trade will also affect carbon emissions through structural effects and income effects, but the extent of the impact should be judged according to different actual situations.Part V,Conclusions and Policy Recommendations. This part will summarize the theoretical analysis and empirical analysis results above, and put forward relevant policies for China’s development and export trade in the future in order to promote the realization of the "dual carbon" goal... |
