Research On Environmental Accounting Information Disclosure In BAOSTEEL

In recent years,enterprises have thoroughly pursued economic interests and neglected the importance of environmental protection.Nowadays,the problem of environmental pollution has become increasingly prominent,and the remedial work has become urgent,The state desires to introduce environmental protection policies to regulate enterprises’ environmental behavior.As one of the representatives of polluting industries,iron and steel enterprises are the main source of discharging pollutants,and their attitude to environmental protection has been widely concerned by the society.These enterprises should be responsible for environmental pollution,including the disclosure of environmental accounting information.Taking Baoshan Iron and Steel Co.,Ltdas an example(The following content is abbreviated as BAOSTEEL,except for the title),this paper makes an in-depth study on its theme.Firstly,based on the research status at home and abroad,this paper summarizes the disclosure in China’s iron and steel industry.Secondly,the BAOSTEEL,which is a specific iron and steel enterprise,when studying its content from 2017 to 2021,the problems are found out.The first step is to analyze the present situation in BAOSTEEL from different angles;The second step is to determine the evaluation index of BAOSTEEL’s situation in combination with China’s current regulations and the specific provisions;The third step is to evaluate the information disclosure of BAOSTEEL in the research stage according to the evaluation index;The fourth step,according to BAOSTEEL’s evaluation,find out its current problems,and analyze its internal reasons.Finally,the positive suggestions are put forward to improve their willingness to disclose information about environmental accounting and realize the vision of green steel industry leaders.At the same time,I hope this study can promote other enterprises to strengthen the disclosure.Through literature research and case analysis,this paper analyzes the disclosure of BAOSTEEL from aspects of disclosure methods and contents.Combined with relevant systems,14 indicators are selected to find out the problems and summarize the operational measures.Under the guidance of national environmental protection,we can see that BAOSTEEL pays attention to the environmental protection in the whole production process and discloses environmental accounting information earlier.However,there are some problems such as lacking quantitative information in the disclosure content and lacking independence in the disclosure method.The reasons mainly contain two aspects.The external reasons are the faultiness of legal construction,the inadequate supervision of relevant departments,the lack of third-party environmental authentication.The internal reasons are the lack of stability of the company’s operation,the imperfect disclosure system and the faultiness of internal supervision.Therefore,BAOSTEEL needs to further strengthen the awareness of disclosure,undertake more environmental protection responsibilities,enhance the awareness and norms of environmental disclosure,and build a positive disclosure system.At the same time,the government should establish laws and regulations on environmental accounting information disclosure and clarify the division of regulatory responsibilities.The innovation of this paper lies in establishing BAOSTEEL’s unique environmental accounting information disclosure evaluation index and scoring its disclosure content in combination with BAOSTEEL’s actual situation.At the same time,BAOSTEEL is representative in the selection of cases,and study its disclosure can reflect the present situation of our country’s steel industry in a way.
