Green development is a development approach with the main goal of improving efficiency and achieving sustainable economic development.As an important area for energy consumption and carbon emission generation,improving carbon emission efficiency of manufacturing industry is the way to achieve green economic development.Based on environmental Kuznets curve theory,agglomeration and externality theory and low-carbon economy theory,this paper explores the influence on manufacturing industry carbon emission efficiency from the perspective of industrial co-agglomeration,measures industrial co-agglomeration index and manufacturing industry carbon emission efficiency using panel data of 30 provinces in China from2008 to 2019,examines the influence of industrial co-agglomeration on manufacturing industry carbon emission efficiency using an empirical model,and examines the influence channel between industrial co-agglomeration and manufacturing carbon emission efficiency,and further analyzes the industry differences and regional differences.The results are expected to provide some practical reference and policy reference for China’s industrial structure layout and sustainable economic development.The research concludes that:(1)There is a non-linear relationship of “First suppress,then promote increase” between industrial co-agglomeration and manufacturing industry carbon emission efficiency,with the corner value of 2.989;(2)Industrial co-agglomeration mainly influences manufacturing industry carbon emission efficiency through two channels,technology progress and energy intensity;(3)The degree of co-agglomeration between manufacturing industry and high-tech manufacturing service industry has a higher influence,in which the influence of information transmission,software and information technology service industry and scientific research and technology service industry is more obvious,and when the degree of co-agglomeration exceeds the turning point,it can significantly improve the manufacturing industry carbon emission efficiency.From the perspective of geographic regions,the influence of industry co-agglomeration on manufacturing carbon emissions in the northeast,northern coastal,middle reaches of Yangtze River and southwest regions significantly satisfies the non-linear relationship.This paper proposes suggestions from the following three aspects:(1)Promote the development strategy of "two-wheel driving" for industries,and reasonably guide the industrial coagglomeration;(2)Promote technological progress and reduce energy intensity through industrial clustering;(3)Guide the deep integration of manufacturing industry and high-tech manufacturing service industry,and formulate differentiated policies according to the actual situation of regions and industries.
