30-60 low-carbon emission reduction background,as the industrialization process brings a huge leap for material civilization,we also face many challenges such as resource constraints, environmental degradation and ecological balance destruction. The manufacturing industry has a pivotal role in our economy, but also plays a key role in consuming resources and causing environmental damage. The manufacturing industry, which supports the economic development of the industry with energy consumption, has not only become an important economic growth point, but also a key part of high-quality economic development and industrial greening.Promoting ecological transformation and sustainable growth of manufacturing industry is crucial to accelerate the quality expansion of our economy. In view of this, this paper takes the green transformation of the manufacturing industry as the core, delves into the current situation, characteristics and stages of the green reform of China’s manufacturing industry, and analyzes in detail the role of carbon intensity on the green transformation of the manufacturing industry and its internal logic. This has important theoretical and practical values for China’s ecological construction and manufacturing industry’s advancement to the global mid-to high-end industrial chain. This paper takes the green transformation level of manufacturing industry in 30 provinces and cities in China as the research object, constructs a comprehensive evaluation index system for green transformation of manufacturing industry in China, and adopts the vertical level measurement of ecology-economy-society to measure the green transformation ability of manufacturing industry. On this basis, this paper quantitatively evaluates and empirically analyzes the green level of China’s manufacturing industry and the carbon emission intensity of the manufacturing industry nationwide and by province from 2008 to 2020,and finds that the relationship between the two is not a simple linear relationship of promotion or inhibition, but a complex U-shaped relationship,i.e.,as the carbon emission intensity of China’s manufacturing industry increases, the green transformation ability of China’s manufacturing industry also increases slowly. However, because China’s rapid economic development has led to environmental pollution and CO2 emissions have begun to endanger the climate, the current situation of green development of China’s manufacturing industry and the relationship between it and carbon emissions need to be analyzed in depth.Secondly, based on the geographical location, the full sample is divided into eastern and central and western regions for comparative analysis to explore the regional heterogeneity of carbon emission intensity affecting the green transformation of manufacturing industry. In today’s booming digital economy, the use of digital technology to serve the real economy and help manufacturing production to establish a set of inherent mechanisms to achieve green transformation has theoretical and practical possibilities. And the threshold effect of green finance similar to government support in promoting the green transformation of manufacturing industry needs to be further explored. After in-depth research and empirical tests, the main findings of this paper are as follows.Firstly, the green transformation of manufacturing industry and CE as a whole show a steady upward trend.Secondly,CE significantly has a U-shaped influence on the green transformation of manufacturing industry, specifically, the carbon emission intensity has first inhibited and then promoted the green transformation of manufacturing industry, and the overall carbon emission intensity of China is temporarily located on the left side of the U-shaped curve, because the current carbon emission is not at a reasonable level, the rapid development of China’s economy has caused an excessive burden on the environment, and the green transformation of manufacturing enterprises in their initial development so far has played The "innovation compensation effect" played by the green transformation of manufacturing enterprises has not been too effective, and the green technology and green enterprises developed subsequently have not helped much in the current task of emission reduction, and China’s economic development has not yet crossed the "Kuznets inflection point",and the large amount of pollution emissions makes the environmental quality China’s economic development has not yet crossed the "Kuznets inflection point," and a large number of pollution emissions are causing environmental quality to decline with economic growth.Secondly, from the regional level, the impact of carbon emission intensity on the green transformation of manufacturing industry is the strongest in the east and the second strongest in the central part, respectively. In addition, the increase in the level of digital economy development in China leads to the modernization of digital economy and market environment shows a positive role in promoting the green transformation of manufacturing industry and accelerating the reduction of carbon emissions;however, the role of financial progress on the green transformation of manufacturing industry shows a limiting trend.Ultimately,in the extended study,it was found that the degree of urbanization has a single threshold effect in the study of the impact of carbon intensity on the ecological transformation of manufacturing. The progress of urbanization helps to optimize the market, attract talents, and expand foreign trade, thus promoting the growth of green industries.Based on the above research results, this paper proposes the following measures for the green development and low-carbon production of China’s manufacturing industry:encouraging eco-friendly restructuring in manufacturing, enhancing resource allocation efficacy, fostering green finance growth, sensibly executing digital transitions, and applying localized administration.
