With the rapid economic development,the carbon emissions generated by a large amount of energy consumption have led to the rise of global temperature,and the ecological environment has been severely threatened.Countries have actively taken measures to reduce carbon emissions,and signed the Copenhagen Agreement,the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change,the Paris Agreement and other agreements.China has also put forward the goals of "carbon peak" and "carbon neutralization",that is,to achieve carbon peak by 2030 and carbon neutralization by2060.The Yangtze River Delta region contributes nearly a quarter of China’s GDP,so it inevitably bears the important responsibility of exploring the path of carbon emission reduction to alleviate environmental pollution problems.Therefore,it is of great significance to carry out research on carbon emission efficiency,evolution trend and influencing factors in the Yangtze River Delta region to achieve the goal of carbon emission reduction and low-carbon and efficient development in the Yangtze River Delta region.Based on the above background,this paper takes 41 cities in the Yangtze River Delta as the research object,calculates the carbon emission efficiency through the three-stage super efficiency SBM model,and uses the ML index and its decomposition method to study the internal power of carbon emission efficiency growth.Then,the regional differences of carbon emission efficiency in the Yangtze River Delta are analyzed through the coefficient of variation and Dagum Gini coefficient,and the evolution trend of carbon emission efficiency is revealed through the nuclear density estimation.Finally,the paper empirically analyzes the influencing factors of carbon emission efficiency through the spatial Dubin model.The results show that:(1)The total carbon emissions in the Yangtze River Delta region grew slowly,and the growth rate showed a downward trend.Although the average carbon emission efficiency after adjustment is less than that before adjustment,the gap is narrowing,indicating that the internal management level in the Yangtze River Delta region is constantly improving.It can be seen from the ML index and its decomposition results that the improvement of carbon emission efficiency is mainly due to the contribution of technological progress,especially in 2013-2014 and2016-2017.(2)During the study period,the coefficient of variation of carbon emission efficiency in the Yangtze River Delta showed a downward trend;Dagum Gini coefficient shows that the overall difference of carbon emission efficiency in the Yangtze River Delta region is gradually narrowing,in which the contribution rate of inter regional difference is higher than that of intra regional difference and super density,indicating that inter regional difference is the main reason for the overall difference;The nuclear density curve shows that the carbon emission efficiency in the Yangtze River Delta region shows an overall growth trend.(3)Through spatial Dubin model regression,it is found that there is a "U" curve relationship between economic development level and carbon emission efficiency.From the perspective of effect decomposition,the direct effect of industrial structure and energy structure is negative,the direct effect of urbanization level is positive,and the direct effect of government influence is not significant;The indirect effect of urbanization level and government influence is positive,the indirect effect of energy structure is negative,and the indirect effect of industrial structure is not significant,which indicates that the urbanization level and government influence have promoted the carbon emission efficiency of the city and neighboring cities,while the energy structure is on the contrary,and the industrial structure promotes the carbon emission efficiency of neighboring cities and suppresses the carbon emission efficiency of the city.Based on the above research conclusions and combined with the specific situation of the Yangtze River Delta region,this paper puts forward suggestions from five aspects: finding new green economic growth points,optimizing the industrial structure to increase the proportion of the tertiary industry,promoting urbanization with low carbon and high quality,improving the use of clean energy,and establishing a regional coordination mechanism by the government,providing reference for the Yangtze River Delta region to formulate policies related to carbon emission reduction and improvement of carbon emission efficiency.
