A good ecological environment is a prerequisite for human survival and a necessary condition for economic and social development.However,for a long time,the unreasonable production layout of enterprises and the misallocation of resources have led to extensive production,low energy utilization efficiency,and resulting in a large amount of pollutant emissions,hindering the high-quality development of China’s economy.With the rapid development of China’s digital economy,the wide application of 5G,big data,artificial intelligence and other digital technologies has effectively integrated the production and operation of enterprises,promoted the iterative upgrading of production technology,improved energy utilization efficiency,and reduced pollutant emissions.At the same time,digital technology promoted the informatization construction of environmental supervision,realized accurate and efficient treatment of environmental pollution,and improved the quality of the ecological environment.It is not difficult to find that digital technology is an important basis for reducing environmental pollution,and the improvement of ecological and environmental governance cannot be achieved without the development of the digital economy.Firstly,this paper sorts out the theoretical basis closely related to the subject of this research.Secondly,the impact of digital economy development on environmental pollution is discussed.According to the analysis of theoretical mechanism,this paper puts forward four research hypotheses: First,the development of digital economy is conducive to improving environmental quality and improving environmental pollution.Second,the digital economy reduces environmental pollution through the effects of urbanization,technological innovation,and human capital structure.Third,the digital economy can have spatial spillover effects on environmental pollution in adjacent areas.Fourth,economic agglomeration will play a regulating role in reducing consumption and emissions of the digital economy.How to achieve a win-win situation between the development of the digital economy and the governance of the ecological environment is an important issue that needs to be solved urgently for the sustainable development of China’s economy.Based on the data of 245 prefecture-level cities across the country from 2012 to 2019,the fixed effect model and the spatial Durbin model are used to study the impact of the digital economy on environmental pollution and its internal mechanism.The research found that:(1)The digital economy has reduced the environmental pollution level of the local area and neighboring areas.After introducing instrumental variables for endogenous processing,the conclusion is found to be robust.(2)The mechanism test shows that the digital economy can reduce pollutant emissions through the promotion of regional urbanization,technological innovation,and optimization of human capital structure.(3)The impact of the digital economy on environmental pollution varies in different spatial ranges,and the spatial spillover effect presents an“inverted U-shaped” feature.(4)Economic agglomeration is an important adjustment variable for the impact of digital economy on environmental pollution.A higher level of economic agglomeration inhibits the effect of digital economy in reducing consumption and emission reduction in the region,but it has a significant positive effect on the impact of digital economy on environmental pollution in neighboring areas.Regulatory effect.(5)The heterogeneity analysis found that the digital economy development in the central city has no obvious effect on reducing consumption and emission in the local and adjacent areas,while the digital economy development in the peripheral cities significantly reduces the environmental pollution level in the local and adjacent areas.In order to give full play to the green development of the digital economy,it is necessary for the government to promote the construction of new digital infrastructure,make overall plans for regional development plans,formulate differentiated policies,encourage technological innovation,and then maximize the use of the economic foundation to strengthen the digital economy.Improve the quality and efficiency of ecological environment governance. |
