| With the rapid development of China’s economy, extreme weather phenomena such as haze due to high CO2 emissions have become commonplace."ESG,or environmental, social responsibility and corporate governance,is an important element in promoting the sustainable development of enterprises, and in the past decade, coal enterprises have achieved significant economic benefits while their environmental, social and governance performance has received attention from various stakeholders, including industry regulators, investors and customers. As a result, the traditional evaluation system based on financial performance previously adopted by Chinese enterprises no longer meets the needs of the public and the enterprises themselves. In this paper,S coal company is selected as a case study object, whose performance evaluation system has excessive emphasis on economic benefits and is decoupled from sustainable development strategies. The paper optimises S company’s performance evaluation system from the perspective of ESG,expecting to reduce to a certain extent the administrative penalties that the enterprise receives for polluting the environment or other social impacts,as well as to improve its own management system and systems, enhance its risk It is expected that the performance evaluation system of Company S can be optimised in order to reduce to a certain extent the administrative penalties suffered by the company due to environmental pollution or other social impacts,as well as to improve its own management system and systems, enhance its risk management capability and ensure sustainable development. In this paper, after reviewing the research results and theories on ESG and performance evaluation system at home and abroad,we start a study on the optimisation of the performance evaluation system of S companies from the perspective of ESG.Firstly,an in-depth analysis of the overview and characteristics of China’s coal industry is presented;secondly, the current situation of Company S and its performance evaluation system is introduced;then,a questionnaire survey is used to explore the shortcomings of Company S’s performance evaluation system from an ESG perspective and to analyse the deep-seated reasons behind the problems;further, suggestions for optimising the performance evaluation system based on an ESG perspective are put forward to address the above problems.A four-dimensional performance evaluation index system covering finance, environment, social responsibility and corporate governance was constructed, and the weights and scoring methods of the optimised indexes were determined through fuzzy hierarchical analysis, and practical suggestions were made to improve the application of the performance evaluation results of Company S.This will help Company S improve its management and ESG management,so that the company can better practise social responsibility while enhancing its economic efficiency. This will enable the company to enhance its economic efficiency while better fulfilling its social responsibility. Finally, measures were proposed to ensure the optimized performance evaluation system.Through a comparative analysis of the optimised ESG-based performance evaluation system and the original performance evaluation system of Company S,it can be found that there are differences between the two in terms of evaluation philosophy, evaluation orientation, evaluation indicators, evaluation methods and application of evaluation results, and that the optimised performance evaluation system places more emphasis on the interests of stakeholders and is more closely linked to the strategic objectives of the enterprise, bringing into play the value-added function of performance evaluation and promoting the sustainable development of the enterprise. The optimized performance evaluation system places more emphasis on stakeholders’ interests and is more closely linked to the company’s strategic objectives, thus bringing into play the value-added function of performance evaluation and promoting sustainable development of the company. The optimisation of the performance evaluation system of Company S from an ESG perspective and its recommendations can provide some reference and reference for other coal companies in the construction of comprehensive performance evaluation, guiding them to pay attention to ESG performance and calling on relevant regulatory bodies to introduce relevant policies and regulations to urge and help them to achieve sustainable development. |
