Over the past 40 years of reform and opening up,China’s economy has achieved rapid growth and industrial development has achieved tremendous achievements.However,the extensive economic development model has brought a heavy cost of natural resource depletion and gradual deterioration of the ecological environment.Realizing low-carbon and green development and building a beautiful China have gradually become a consensus.Looking back on the development process over the past 40 years,China has made tremendous efforts in promoting harmonious coexistence between humans and nature,and promoting green and sustainable development.Practice shows that to actively and steadily achieve the carbon neutrality goal of carbon peaking,we must make good use of the power of scientific and technological development.We will lead a green low-carbon production and lifestyle with technological innovation,and promote China to achieve carbon neutrality as soon as possible.Green technology innovation accelerates the process of green intelligent development,transforms the extensive economic development model of high investment and high consumption in the past,and injected new momentum into high-quality development that coordinates economic growth with the ecological environment.In this regard,seeking a balance between green technology innovation and carbon emissions has gradually become a hot topic of academic concern.There are various indicators for measuring carbon emissions in existing research,and carbon emission performance can be systematically evaluated under economic development activities.So,how does green technology innovation affect carbon emission performance? Therefore,this article will use carbon emission performance to measure carbon emission activities and study the impact of green technology innovation on regional carbon emission performance.The research idea of the full text is as follows: based on the panel data of 30 provinces in China from 2008 to 2020,it is divided into three major economic regions,namely,the east,the middle and the west.The unexpected output SE-SBM model is used to measure the total factor carbon emission performance,and then the spatial econometric model is used to explore the linear impact of green technology innovation on carbon emission performance,and the threshold panel model is used to explore the nonlinear relationship between green technology innovation and carbon emission performance,And explore the impact mechanisms of GDP,industrial structure,urbanization level,trade openness,and energy consumption structure on carbon emission performance,indicating that this study has important theoretical significance.At the same time,this article clarifies the carbon emission performance benefits brought about by green technology innovation,providing decision-making reference for achieving the unity of environmental protection and green sustainable development in China,and has important practical value.The main research conclusions are as follows:(1)From the measurement results of carbon emissions performance,it can be seen that carbon emissions performance presents a trend of eastern>central>western,and the carbon emissions performance of eastern and central regions is higher than the national average level.(2)From the spatial correlation analysis of regional carbon emissions performance,H-H clusters are mainly located in the eastern and coastal regions,while L-L clusters are mainly located in the central region,and carbon emissions performance mainly shows a strong spatial dependence.(3)From a linear research perspective,green technology innovation in both the eastern and western regions has a positive impact on carbon emissions performance,while there is no significant effect in the western region.(4)From the perspective of non-linear research,at the national level,green technology innovation has a single threshold effect on carbon emissions performance;There is a double threshold effect between the eastern and central regions,and there is a U-shaped relationship between the impact on carbon emissions performance.There is no threshold value in the western region,indicating that this region still has great development potential.Therefore,this article proposes the following countermeasures and suggestions: increase investment in science and technology to help green and low-carbon development;Strengthen the recruitment,cultivation and retention of talents,and promote technological innovation and research and development;Improve the policy and institutional system and focus on the implementation of scientific and technological achievements;Strengthen regional low-carbon cooperation and improve the green cooperation mechanism. |
