Research On The Application Of Wool Felt Technology In Illustration Design

Wool felt craft has a long history and is the oldest non-woven fabric form in human history.With a strong national origin and rich cultural connotation,wool felt as a high-quality material for cold protection has been exerted its natural properties for a long time.With the development of industrial civilization,the natural function of wool felt has been replaced by sprouting industrial products.However,as people’s living standards improve and the aesthetic consciousness increasingly raises,the soft and delicate wool felt materials with strong plasticity and diversified craft skills are favored by more and more artists.They are widely used in clothing,home decoration,round decoration,illustration,and other design fields.This paper is divided into five parts to discuss the application of wool felt craft.The first part introduces the research background homely and abroad,followed by the purpose and significance of the topic.The second part interprets and analyzes the wool felt technology,including the overview of the craft,its origin and development,and the expression skills of the wool felt craft.The third part focuses on the artistic expressions of the wool felt art in illustrations created by excellent artists in three aspects: the form of expression,aesthetic expression,combination,and exploration.The fourth part is the application of the craft in practice to explore how the wool felt craft could be applied in the illustration.The final part puts out the conclusion and prospect of the research.Based on the application of wool felt craft in illustration design as the starting point,this paper explores the performance and characteristics of wool felt materials and the techniques and decorative effect of the art in illustration design.By analyzing its artistic forms,features,and techniques,this paper discusses the application of wool felt craft in illustration design,which gives full play to the characteristics and aesthetic texture of wool felt crafts and excavates its artistic value in illustration design.Through this research,we hope to create contemporary humanistic,heart-warming,and thought-provoking wool felt artworks by applying this ancient and plain material.
