| With the improvement of our economic development level, the ensuing air pollution is increasingly serious, and people’s awareness of risk and health protection is also constantly improving. Therefore, the demand for commercial health insurance is increasing day by day.But there is no in-depth literature on how air pollution affects the demand for commercial health insurance and how it varies under different conditions,The research on this issue is the main topic of current academic and practical circles, which has important theoretical and practical significance for enriching the research on the influencing factors of commercial health insurance demand and perfecting the related types of health insurance. In this paper,269 prefecture-level cities from 2006 to 2020 are used to construct a panel model to study the impact of air pollution on the demand for commercial health insurance, taking the comprehensive index of air pollution degree,i.e.sulfur dioxide emission, industrial soot emission and industrial nitrogen oxide emission,as the core explanatory variable, and the insurance density of commercial health insurance as the explained variable.First, the fixed effect regression is used to analyze the impact of air pollution on the demand for commercial health insurance.Secondly, per capita consumption expenditure is introduced as an intermediary variable and education level of residents is introduced as a regulating variable. On the basis of exploring the influence of air pollution on the demand for commercial health insurance, the mediating role of per capita consumption expenditure and the regulating role of education level are analyzed. And through the division of heavy industry cities and the eastern, central and western regions to analyze the heterogeneity. Finally, the absolute value of commercial health insurance premium income is used as the explanatory variable to verify the stability of the results. The conclusions of this paper are as follows: 1.Air pollution has a significant positive effect on the demand for commercial health insurance.2.The education level of residents can strengthen the positive effect of air pollution on commercial health insurance to some extent, which plays a significant regulatory role in the top 100 industrial cities,non-top 100 industrial cities and eastern, central and western regions.3.Per capita consumption expenditure plays an intermediary role to a certain extent, specifically,it plays a partial intermediary role in the top 100 cities and eastern regions, and plays a complete intermediary role in the cities not ranked in the top 100 in industry and the central and western regions. On this basis, the corresponding countermeasures and suggestions are put forward.First,we need to improve the health management measures of health insurance, improve the medical service efficiency, perfect the medical service system, and give full play to the social protection role of health insurance;Secondly, personal health risk awareness is very important.Only by improving the health awareness can we take action and take corresponding measures. At last, the insurance company classifies and designs accurate relevant health products for individual insurance and family insurance in different regions of east, west and middle, divides the grades of insurance types, and tries to take into account the needs of different groups at different levels. |
