With the rapid development of economy and trade, water transportation industry has attracted more and more attention from all countries. As an important means of water transportation, ships play an important role in maritime freight and passenger transportation, and their safety is the top priority in maritime production. In the event of an emergency, due to the unique way of evacuation of passenger ships, people are not familiar with the characteristics of relatively closed and independent, the ship’s property and life safety will be seriously threatened.Under the above background, this thesis studies passenger ship personnel emergency evacuation, establishes passenger ship personnel evacuation simulation model, formulates reasonable evacuation plan for different scenarios, evaluates the evacuation efficiency related indicators, and verifies the effectiveness of evacuation plan, which is of great significance to ensure the safety of passenger ship personnel. With the background of full understanding of the current maritime passenger safety situation,IMO guidelines, and the characteristics of passenger ship personnel evacuation, this thesis investigates the current theory of personnel movement characteristics, behavioral characteristics, model building, and path optimization for large passenger ship evacuation.By analyzing the current problems of passenger ship personnel evacuation research, the research content and technical route are determined.Subsequently, the advantages and disadvantages of different evacuation models and simulation tools are compared and analyzed from the perspectives of function, principle and applicability.Combining the characteristics and requirements of passenger ship personnel evacuation modeling research, simulation tools and analysis methods are determined, and the personnel evacuation simulation process is introduced in detail. In order to quantify the influence of escape path selection and personnel distribution on the evacuation efficiency of passenger ship personnel, this thesis evaluates the model evacuation results with emergency evacuation time, the waiting time index, the optimal performance statistic and the mean non-flow statistic as mathematical indicators.Based on the above knowledge, this thesis takes a ro-ro passenger ship between Yantai and Dalian as the research object and establishes the geometric layout of the simulation environment and personnel parameters according to the four evacuation scenarios provided by IMO.Based on Pathfinder, the evacuation model of the passenger ship under the four scenarios is established to simulate the evacuation process of the personnel under different evacuation scenarios. The simulation results show that the exit efficiency is low and the crowding level is high when the personnel choose the exit to evacuate by the principle of proximity, and the overall evacuation efficiency needs to be improved. In view of the problems of high congestion and low evacuation efficiency in evacuation process, evacuation routes in four scenarios were optimized.According to the comparison of indicators before and after,it was proved that route optimization could effectively improve evacuation performance. The final results show that the optimized evacuation scenarios promote the exit utilization and further reduce the evacuation time. This study provides useful suggestions for future revisions of IMO guidelines and effective evacuation strategies for planning emergency evacuation of passenger ships, which has good practical value and theoretical significance for evacuation analysis at the early stage of passenger ship design and construction and optimization of passenger ship layout.
