Green Logistics Practices And Sustainability Performance In Oil And Gas Sector

The study primarily aims to assess the direct influence of green logistics practices and sustainable performance.The study proposes and assesses a research model that is well founded in the natural resource based view theory that explores the direct links among green information technology,green transportation,green warehousing,partnership based practices green and each of the sustainability performance dimensions.Furthermore,the mediating effects of social performance,economic performance and environmental performance between green logistics practices and sustainability performance in oil and gas sector are examined.The researcher designs a questionnaire to collect the initial data to measure the variables of the study and distributes it among the population of study who are the logistics firms in the downstream(primary distributors,oil product storage,secondary distribution and local market)oil and gas industry of Uganda.The findings on the demographic information are presented with frequencies and respective percentages and Structural Equation Modeling analysis and also taste the validity of the hypotheses using the PLS-SEM.After analyzing and interpreting the data,the researcher reaches the following findings;That green transportation has significant positive impact on economic performance,while it has negative and positive impact on environmental performance and social performance respectively thus Green transportation improves economic performance but does not improve social and economic performance.Through the responses of the respondents,green warehousing gas a positive impact on environmental,social and economic performance.Finally,green partnership based practices have significant positive impact on economic,social and environmental performance.Therefore,not all the green logistics practices improve sustainable performance in the oil and gas sector in Uganda.The study established that green logistics practices such as green warehousing and green partnership based practices have significant impact on social,economic and environment performance thus an indication that the adoption of green warehousing and engaging customers and suppliers in implementing green practices conserves energy and resource usage,improves profitability and ensures societal safety.
