Research On Corporate Governance Effect Of Environmental Pollution Exposure

In recent years,China’s economic and social development has been continuously improved,the technological level of various industries has been upgraded comprehensively,and the living standards of the Chinese people have been continuously improved.However,with the rapid development of economy,environmental pollution and its harmful consequences are also emerging,becoming an important issue that cannot be ignored.Despite the continuous improvement of environment-related laws and regulations,the upgrading of cleaner production technologies,and the strengthening of policy support for enterprises,the negative impact on the environment caused by heavy industry,chemical industry and other traditional high-energy consumption and high-pollution industries in the production and operation process cannot be ignored.Some enterprises still have problems such as illegal emission of pollutants,lack of clean production equipment,and untruthful and incomplete disclosure of environmental protection information.At the same time,with the continuous development of network and media technology,traditional media have been deeply integrated with new media platforms,and the number of online information publishers has been increasing.New media have expanded the channels of information release,increased the frequency of information release,lowered the threshold for the public to obtain information,and increased the ways for the public to express their opinions and emotions.Combed in this background,this thesis in the comprehensive environmental pollution events of listed companies in 2005-2018 news reports,based on the selection of traditional energy intensive and highly polluting industries-basic chemical industry,combing industry environmental pollution event news,22 listed companies and the industry representative-Jiangsu Huifeng Bio Agriculture Co.,Ltd.(002496)for case study,Analyze how the exposure of environmental pollution incidents affects corporate governance and how to exert the corporate governance effect in the later stage.It is found in this study that the exposure of environmental pollution incidents has an impact on corporate governance mainly through the intervention of regulatory authorities,corporate reputation,public attention,corporate value and other aspects,and the corporate governance effect is mainly exerted through the impact on corporate environmental information disclosure and corporate performance.This thesis analyzes the governance effect of environmental pollution events on the company,and provides suggestions for the company’s operation and development,and warns the company to pay attention to environmental protection issues in the process of development.At the same time,it also provides reference and inspiration for improving the public’s attention to the environmental pollution incidents of listed companies.
