Vegan Food Kansei Design Based On Narrative Design Theory

Chinese civilization has a long history and has given rise to many unique traditional Chinese food cultures in the process of development.With the recent national support and revitalization of the development of cultural and creative industries,the modernization of traditional food heritage has gradually entered the public eye.As a special category of traditional Chinese food culture,vegan food is influenced by both Chinese Buddhism culture and native Chinese culture,and has a very rich cultural heritage and connotation,which has the demand to combine new research methods to conduct innovative design research on traditional vegan food design.In recent years,there has been a proliferation of innovative Chinese snacks,but the high degree of homogenization and the poor consumer experience have failed to unify the cultural connotation of traditional food with the taste experience suitable for contemporary consumers,making it difficult to achieve the goal of inheriting traditional Chinese food culture.Therefore,this paper investigates the actual situation of vegan food design and application,and introduces narrative design theory to better present the culture behind vegan food to users through innovative design,using perceptual engineering theory and design methods to quantify users’ taste sensation of vegan food.Through interviews and questionnaires,as well as data analysis,a vegan food kansei design model was constructed to explore the correlation between users’kansei needs and vegan food design elements.In order to fully understand the vegetarian needs of contemporary users,the theoretical approach of food kansei design was applied to divide user perception into the inner perceptual layer,i.e.,the influence of vegan food on users’ kansei preferences of taste and smell,and the outer cognitive layer,i.e.,the influence of users’ kansei attitudes of sight,hearing and touch.By combining vegan kansei design with narrative theory,the study aims to enhance the taste pleasure of users,and allow users to have more cultural experiences and deeper spiritual experiences through vegan food.Thus,this study provides a new way and idea to pass on the traditional food culture of vegan food,and the innovative design of all traditional Chinese food.
