Engels’ Thought Of Ecological Civilization And Its Contemporary Value

This paper expounds Engels’ ecological civilization thought and its contemporary value,mainly describes the formation and development of Engels’ ecological civilization thought,its main content and its important value for the construction of ecological civilization in China today.This article can be roughly divided into four parts:First,the formation and development of Engels’ thought of ecological civilization.The historical evolution of Engels’ ecological thought is sorted out vertically.Engels’ ecological thought experienced three stages: germination,formation and development.Engels,who was born in a factory owner’s family,turned to criticize the dual persecution of capitalism on external nature and workers’ own nature because he witnessed the inhuman experience of workers being exploited.With the completion of the transformation of Engels’ worldview,he mainly expounded the dialectical unity relationship of "nature man society",and profoundly pointed out that only by sublating capitalist private ownership,carrying out practical reform practice,and replacing the communist system based on public ownership,can we thoroughly realize the coordination and harmony between man and nature,man and society.In his later years,Engels’ ecological thought was further developed and based on a more systematic and complete political and economic theory,a dialectical materialistic view of nature and a materialistic view of history.Second,the main content of Engels’ ecological civilization thought.Although Engels did not use the term "ecological civilization",his discourse contained rich and profound ecological civilization thoughts.The philosophical basis of Engels’ thought of ecological civilization is that man and nature achieve dialectical unity through practice.People come from and depend on nature,and transform nature through practice.He creatively put forward the theory of natural retaliation and made philosophical and social analysis.Finally,he pointed out that to solve the theory of natural retaliation,we must realize the "reconciliation" between man and nature and between man and man.Third,the contemporary value of Engels’ ecological civilization thought.The contemporary value of Engels’ ecological civilization thought is divided into theoretical value and practical value.The practical value is to help the construction of "beautiful China" and the governance of the world’s ecological environment.Fourth,the enlightenment of Engels’ ecological civilization thought on China’s ecological civilization construction.The enlightenment of Engels’ thought of ecological civilization for the construction of ecological civilization in contemporary China includes at least four levels: urban-rural relationship,economic level,ecological rule of law level,and population distribution level.Engels’ ecological civilization thought has important guiding significance for China’s current construction of new urbanization,development of circular economy,construction of ecological rule of law,and balance of regional population.
