A Study On The Artistic Features Of Yunnan Tusi Furniture

The furniture of Tusi has experienced the inheritance,evolution and development of the Tusi system,retains the value concept,aesthetic preferences and folk customs of Tusi and native people and has formed unique artistic characteristics,which is a rare example of studying the history and culture of Tusi in Yunnan.It has a positive significance to analyze the style characteristics of these furniture and explore the cultural changes behind the art form and the influence of the Tusi system.First of all,the paper collected the control government’s management of Yunnan minority areas in feudal society and after the establishment of Tusi system,and after the reformation and the end of Tusi system.Then according to the literature and network data,17 Tusi relics in Yunnan with good preservation had been searched out.Among them,the furniture is well preserved in Menglian Xuanfu Mansion,Situo Xuanfu Mansion.The last,through field research,a good deal of photographs of more than 200 existing pieces of Tusi furniture were collected from 4 Tusi mansions.These furniture is comprised of 20 pieces in Nalou Magistrate Mansion 30 pieces in Situo Tusi Mansion,100 pieces in Nandian Xuanfu Mansion and 60 pieces in Menglian Xuanfu Mansion.Yunnan Tusi furniture as a whole,highlights the rights and status of Tusi and manifests the magnificent aristocratic style,from which we can see the significant influence of Han Culture.Tusi furniture also shows ethnic culture,religious culture and modern culture,which is a multi-integrated complex us.Tusi furniture in different regions,shows the differences of ethnic culture,degree of Chinesization and aesthetic preferences.The overall artistic characteristics of Yunnan Tusi furniture include the pragmatism of making the best use of everything,the decorative charm of both refined and popular taste,the beauty of delicacy and fashion in craftsmanship,the beauty of primitive simplicity and nature in sculpture,The cultural connotation of multiple integration.Through a comprehensive analysis of the basic features of Yunnan Tusi furniture,it is found that Yunnan Tusi furniture contains ethnic culture,central plains culture,various religious cultures,western cultures and modern culture.The reasons for the formation of this diversified artistic representation are as follows.First,the central dynasty adopted the policy of governing the state,cultivating religion and governing according to common customs under the Tusi system.Second,the Han population moved in,the imperial examination system was implemented in minority areas,and the ethnic culture and Han Culture were integrated.Third,the change of Social structure under the policy of the central government that obedience is rewarded led to the initiative Chinesization.Fourth,the religious atmosphere of society under Tusi system was strong,and the policy of unification of the state and the church was adopted.Finally,since modern times,ethnic culture has changed and western forces have impacted.
