The tool industry is the basic industry in the machinery manufacturing industry and major technical fields.As an important branch of cutting tools,milling cutters have always occupied an important market share of cutting tools.European and American countries have advantages in milling cutter technology.In order to further understand the development and competition of global milling cutter technology,this paper,based on the global milling cutter technology patent data,analyzes the global development and competition situation,China’s development and competition situation,and the competition situation in subdivided fields through visual analysis,comparative analysis and other methods.In addition,starting from the subdivision field,the main patent applicants in the major innovation countries of milling cutter technology in the world are analyzed,and the competitive situation between China and the major milling cutter technology countries in the world is obtained.Firstly,from the four aspects of patent application trend,technology flow,technology composition and main applicants in the subdivided fields,the analysis reveals the global competitive situation.The research results show that European and American countries have developed early and have a higher level of technology.Japanese applicants have advantages in the upstream raw material field.Japan,the United States and Germany are the main innovation countries of midstream processing equipment and downstream milling cutters,The research of downstream milling cutter is the current research focus of milling cutter technology.Secondly,it analyzes China’s competition situation from five aspects: patent application trend,technology layout,geographical distribution,and the competition situation of patent applications and major applicants in China.The research shows that both foreign and domestic applicants have many patent layouts in China,and the competition is relatively fierce,and foreign applicants have more technical advantages in midstream processing equipment and downstream milling cutters.Finally,select the patented technologies of Japan,the United States and Germany,analyze their application trends,the main applicants in the subdivided fields,the hot technology fields and the joint presence of the IPC team,and form a comparison with Chinese milling cutter technology.The results show that China and Japan account for a large proportion of patent applications for upstream raw materials in the milling cutter industry.At the same time,Japan’s patent applications for downstream milling cutters and cutters are higher than those of the other three countries,while the United States and Germany have more obvious advantages in patent applications for midstream processing equipment.
