As my country’s economy enters a new stage of high-quality development, problems such as shortage of resources and environmental constraints are becoming more and more serious, and the extensive development model that exchanges environmental pollution for development will gradually withdraw.Under the new situation,China’s economic development must replace new engines and seek new impetus.Green innovation has become a new path for countries around the world to pursue innovative development, turning the extensive development model into a sustainable development model. On the basis of saving resources, reducing energy consumption, avoiding or reducing ecological environment pollution and damage, sustainable growth will be achieved, which is in line with the green and innovative development concept emerging in recent years. The development of high-tech industries plays a vital role in the process of China’s economic transformation, and agglomeration is an important mode of its development. Therefore,it is of great practical significance to study the impact of high-tech industry agglomeration on green innovation efficiency in this context, both for high-tech industries and national economic innovation and sustainable development. This study analyzes the impact of agglomeration on innovation efficiency based on neoclassical micro-location theory, agglomeration externality theory, new economic geography, and regional innovation system theory, and lays a theoretical foundation for the following research.Select the high-tech industry at the provincial level in Chinese mainland from 2004 to 2020 as the research sample. The Super SBM-DEA model is used to measure the efficiency of green innovation, and the location entropy is used to measure the degree of spatial agglomeration. The mechanism of scale agglomeration in the relationship between spatial agglomeration and green innovation efficiency is systematically studied through fixed effect model, mediation effect model and threshold panel model. And based on the above analysis,it puts forward development suggestions for improving the efficiency of green innovation. The research results show that:(1)There is a significant spatial differentiation of green innovation efficiency in China’s high-tech industries. The green innovation efficiency of the eastern region generally exceeds that of the central region, and the central region generally surpasses the northeast region and the western region, showing a decreasing spatial heterogeneity of the east-central-west-northeast.(2)Spatial agglomeration of high-tech industries is conducive to improving the efficiency of green innovation, while scale agglomeration acts as a hindrance, and 6.06% of the promotion effect of spatial agglomeration on green innovation efficiency is achieved by limiting the scale.(3)The spatial agglomeration of my country’s high-tech industries has a double-scale agglomeration threshold effect on the efficiency of green innovation. When the scale agglomeration is less than the first threshold, the spatial agglomeration has an obvious positive effect on green innovation efficiency;when the scale agglomeration crosses the first threshold and is smaller than the second threshold, the spatial agglomeration coefficient is larger than the coefficient before the first threshold, the spatial agglomeration in this interval has a stronger effect on promoting green innovation efficiency;when the scale agglomeration is greater than the second threshold, the spatial agglomeration coefficient is smaller than the first two threshold interval coefficients, and the promoting effect of spatial agglomeration on green innovation efficiency is the weakest. The promotion of the spatial agglomeration of high-tech industries has the characteristics of decreasing in the middle, west, and east. The scale of agglomeration in the 30 provinces across the country is rising year by year to the high threshold range.By 2020,the scale of the national high-tech industry has basically entered the second threshold. Therefore, provincial governments should formulate industrial policies to rationally distribute high-tech industries and cultivate local characteristic industrial clusters;rationally regulate the spatial spillover of economies of scale to form the advantages of scale agglomeration;optimize the innovation environment for high-tech industries and improve the efficiency of green innovation. |
