With the continuous liberalization of the national two-child and three-child policy,the proportion of Chinese population aged 0-14 to the total population in 2020 will increase by 1.2% compared with the results of the sixth census.The increasing proportion and the improvement of living standards lead to the consumption environment of children’s products improved gradually.However,most of the children’s furniture on the market are simply designed based on children’s physiological characteristics,without paying attention to the influence of children’s physical state and environment on children’s cognition.Therefore,it has important theoretical value and practical significance to combine the theory of body-cognition-environment theory in embodied cognition with the children’s furniture design.This paper studies the physical and mental characteristics of preschool and early school children aged 3-12.First,the development of embodied cognition theory and the current situation of children’s furniture design are combed,and the usage requirement of parents and children are investigated through questionnaires,on-site observations and on-site interviews.The embodied cognitive requirement at the level of behavioral perception and so on provide preliminary reference for the cognitive level design of children’s furniture.Questionnaire survey and interview results show that parents and users pay more attention to the safety and aesthetics of children’s furniture.Children’s beds and children’s tables and chairs are the favorite children’s furniture by children.And both the boys and girls show a love for blue.In the research on the relationship between embodied cognition theory and children’s furniture,through the analysis of children’s physiological,psychological and behavioral characteristics and the understanding of embodied cognition,the research on embodied behavior,embodied perception and embodied metaphor of children’s furniture was constructed respectively.It is related to the design level of the four dimensions of the embodied environment.Based on these four dimensions,the questionnaires on the demand of embodied children’s furniture were distributed to children aged 3-12 years and their parents respectively,and the user demand satisfaction analysis was carried out in combination with the KANO model analysis method to obtain the embodied demand model of children’s furniture.Then based on the KANO model,a children’s furniture design strategy from the perspective of embodied cognition is proposed,the design of children’s furniture should follow the design principles of conforming to the body schema,adapting to body perception,stimulating individual image,and cooperating with the living environment,improving the cognitive abilities and levels of children finally.Finally,using the KANO model and the embodied design strategies of physics,perception,imagery and situation,the scheme evaluation and design practice of children’s wardrobe are carried out.It provides case guidance for children’s furniture design based on embodied cognition.It has the practical significance of expanding the perspective of children’s furniture design and the theoretical significance of enriching the application scope of embodied cognition.
