With the increasing awareness of environmental protection and the rising demand for printing quality,flexographic printing has become the fastest growing printing method worldwide.Halftone screening technology as a key technology in the flexographic plate making process,although after years of development,but in a single AM,FM screening technology still has Moire streaks,dot loss and other problems.Therefore,this paper conducts an in-depth study on the hybrid halftone screening algorithm to achieve the purpose of providing high-definition dot images for flexographic plate makers.The main research contents are as follows.Hybrid halftone screening algorithm based on image toning.Most of the commonly used hybrid halftone screening algorithms are simple hybrid in the traditional sense.In addition to the above-mentioned problems of single screening,this hybrid screening method also has the problem that the transition between different tones is not smooth.In order to solve the above problems,this paper firstly proposes the stochastic center algorithm of AM dot and the multilevel error diffusion recombination algorithm of FM dot.And then combines the two algorithms to obtain the hybrid halftone screening algorithm.The experimental results show that the algorithm can solve the above problems and has better performance of total dot perimeter.HD hybrid halftone screening algorithm based on image content.Due to the single feature of dot image,texture details of continuous toned image cannot be fully restored,so there is the problem of loss of detail components in dot image.To address this problem,the detail features are first extracted from the continuous tone images.Then we use different screening algorithms for the extracted non-texture regions,texture regions and edge regions.Finally,the different regions are fused to obtain the content-based HD hybrid halftone screening algorithm in this paper.The simulation results show that the algorithm can not only reproduce the details of the continuous toned image,but also effectively solve the above problems,such as the uneven connection of the transition region,Moire fringe and dot loss.In this paper,the algorithms are used for plate making in the HD flexographic plate printing environment with the resolution of 5080 DPI and the number of network line is300 LPI.Experimental results show that the minimum dot pixel of the printing plate is 5μm,and the minimum dot diameter is kept at 15μm.The dot image is fully restored and realize the HD flexographic printing of the proposed algorithm.At the same time,this paper also analyzes and compensates for the dot expansion in the process of printing plate making,and realizes the restoration of the original gray scale adjustment of the printing plate,which effectively improves the printing quality of the printing plate.
