Research On Traditional Henan Opera Costumes And Its Innovative Application

The origin of Henan opera can be traced back to the Ming and Qing dynasties in Kaifeng,Henan Province and its surrounding areas,and has a long artistic lineage and profound cultural heritage,and has developed a measured and resounding artistic style through continuous development and change.As a branch of the stage art of Henan opera,costume is an indispensable part of the art of Henan opera.Traditional Henan opera costumes are closely related to the profound traditional costume culture of China’s ancient times,and are artistically processed on the basis of the essence of costumes from all dynasties and generations,forming their own unique artistic style and modern value with their profound cultural connotation,exquisite patterns,distinctive national colors,and exquisite production techniques.This paper takes traditional Henan opera costumes as the research object and its artistic characteristics and cultural connotation as the research content.First,the historical development of traditional Henan opera costumes is elaborated.Through the study of relevant literature works and pictures and images of Henan opera and traditional Henan opera costumes,the current status of the study of Henan opera costumes by scholars at home and abroad is summarized,and the historical origin of Henan opera is sorted out to clarify the tracing of Henan opera costumes and their historical evolution in three periods: the Ming and Qing dynasties,the late Qing dynasty to the Republic of China and after the founding of New China.Secondly,the artistic features of traditional Henan opera costumes,such as shape,pattern,color,craft and material,are summarized with the image information.Through exploring the programmatic,danceable and decorative aesthetic features of traditional Henan opera costumes and the cultural connotations of the three aspects of writing techniques,national symbols and interesting forms,the aesthetic values and cultural implications are revealed,and the modern values of traditional Henan opera costumes are analyzed from three aspects of humanities,culture and society to provide theoretical basis for the innovative application of traditional Henan opera costumes in modern costumes.Finally,the above theoretical basis is integrated with its excellent cases in domestic and foreign costume design for innovative design application.Research shows that the costume system of Chinese opera was perfected during the Ming and Qing dynasties,and the costume of Henan opera is a complete costume system formed on this basis along with the development of costume culture in the Central Plains.Traditional Henan opera costumes inherited the characteristics of ancient Chinese costumes and traditional aesthetic concepts,and their modeling structure is a wide robe with wide sleeves and H profile;most of the patterns are universal and take their auspicious meanings;the colors inherited the traditional Chinese concept of five colors;the materials are mainly silk and pay attention to "rigid and soft".The connotation of traditional Henan opera costumes is expressed in the realistic approach of "realistic frame,realistic content",distinctive national characteristics and interesting forms.Traditional Henan opera costumes have a variety of innovative design possibilities in terms of visual elements,decorative techniques and cultural thinking,and the constraints of "simple reproduction,homogenization and lack of connotation" should be broken during the design.Traditional Henan opera costumes are the essence of China’s national costume culture,reflecting the process of China’s traditional costume culture and costume history;modern costume design is a symbol of the times,and is one of the important symbols of human civilization progress.Through the analysis of the artistic characteristics and cultural connotation of traditional Henan opera costumes,on the one hand,it is conducive to improving the costume system of traditional Henan opera costumes and providing theoretical basis for the study of traditional Henan opera costume culture;on the other hand,it is conducive to broadening the inheritance and modern application of traditional Henan opera costumes,which is an effective way to inherit traditional costume culture and enrich modern design forms.
