In recent years,with China’s attention to the development of excellent traditional cultural innovation industry,mogao Grottoes cultural innovation industry has ushered in a huge opportunity for development.The mural paintings in Mogao Grottoes have gone through the baptism of many dynasties and integrated the essence of Chinese and Western culture.The mural paintings have rich themes and grand scale,and have great aesthetic and artistic value.At present,the development of children’s cultural products in Dunhuang or Mogao Grottoes has accumulated some achievements,but its form is single and ignores the cognitive interaction between mogao grottoes culture and children,which reduces the efficiency of children’s learning and experience of Mogao grottoes culture.The preschool stage from 3 to 6 years old is an important period for the growth and development of children.At this stage,children’s cognition and self-care ability have been significantly improved.Toys accompany children at this stage for the longest time,but the toys on the market are less innovative and less integrated with excellent traditional culture.It is worth exploring and researching how to let children improve their cognitive ability by playing toys and effectively spread mogao Grottoes culture among children through "edutainment".In view of the mogao grottoes,and product development on the children’s market segment,combined approach to children’s toys and excellent traditional culture in China remains to be development,based on piaget’s cognitive development theory as the foundation,relying on the mogao grottoes murals profound culture with extremely high artistic value,through analyzing the characteristics of decorative pattern in the fresco art,combination of 3 ~ 6 years old children’s cognitive characteristics,From three aspects of cognitive thinking,space cognition and color cognition,this paper analyzes the ways and channels of children’s cognition of mural art in this stage,explores the application means of mural elements in toy design,establishes design principles,and finally constructs the design method of mogao Grottoes cultural creation children’s toys.This paper takes mogao Grottoes decorative patterns as an example to carry out design practice and realize the innovative design purpose of "teaching culture with toys and shaping toys with culture".
