<Dream of the Red Chamber> is not only a literary work,but also an important study of the world of the Qing dynasty.This book is a master piece that described the food culture from the Qing dynasties,reflecting the social life and context of the times.In the context of the rapid development of the national economy,people’s qualitative experience of food and drink is constantly increasing.This thesis is about food design,taking the pastries in <Dream of the Red Chamber> as the object of study,and modernising and redesigning traditional pastries in China.The main body of the thesis is divided into five sections.The introduction provides a general overview of the background and purpose of the research,an overview of the current status of contemporary research at home and abroad,and a framework for research and innovation.The first chapter focuses on the characteristics of traditional seasonal patries and their connection with the region,which is the basis for the subsequent analysis.The second chapter then refines the Red Chamber culture in the redesign path,summarising its visual language and aesthetic elements,as well as extracting some important imagery from Dream of the Red Chamber.The third section focuses on the research and analysis of outstanding design examples of traditional seasonal pastries,and a systematic discussion.The fourth chapter summarised the process of redesign research and practice,and systematically summarised the redesign paths that have been summarised in the previous research,and how the process of design practice is guided by the ideas.This is followed by a concluding statement that concludes the text.The paper applies research from various sources,incorporating market demand and orientation,and uses quantitative analysis of consumer behaviour and user eating experience as a research method to explore the redesign path.The paper will ultimately contribute to the creative transformation and innovative development of Chinese traditional culture and to the promotion of cultural confidence.
