| The transformation and renewal of old urban communities is a major project in the process of urbanization in China, which is of great practical significance for promoting the construction of contemporary livable cities and benefiting people’s livelihood and expanding domestic demand.During the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, the guiding ideology and work arrangements of the state to promote the construction of urban and rural community service systems pointed out: "Community service facilities should be regarded as a practical matter of people’s livelihood full of temperature and placed in a prominent position in the transformation of old communities." "Taking Xuzhou in northern Jiangsu as an example, the urban area of the city has left a large number of old communities in the process of historical development and industrial transformation, which were generally built in the 1970 s and 1980 s,with problems such as old environment and facilities,a large number of public spaces for residents’ activities, low utilization of community space, and serious lack of convenient public service facilities, which cannot meet the current and future living needs of residents."The author mainly studies urban furniture in the small and micro spaces of xuzhou’s old community, conducts a detailed investigation and analysis of the existing small and micro spaces, urban furniture and crowd activities of the sample communities with the help of the PSPL research method, and proposes the following design strategies for the existing problems of urban furniture and the scale characteristics of the small and micro spaces in the sample communities: to achieve the effective use of fragmented small and micro spaces with flexible structures, and to meet the diversified needs of residents in a multi-functional way of use.Focus on the principle of assembly and disassembly for later maintenance and iteration,as well as a phased planning mode from single to multiple, and combine the design scheme to demonstrate that this strategy can effectively improve the utilization rate of small and micro spaces in old communities, enhance spatial flexibility, improve living conditions and meet the growing living needs of residents. The conclusion of this thesis is to put forward a new perspective for the renewal and transformation of old communities, using urban furniture design in small and micro spaces as an intervention means to enhance the vitality of old communities with points and faces. |
