Research On The Relationship Between Urban Compactness And Ecological Environment Quality

With the further advancement of new-type urbanization,urban diseases such as disorderly sprawl and environmental pollution occur frequently in municipalities and provincial capitals in China.Compact city and ecological city have been widely used in urban construction in Western countries and become the frontier concept of sustainable development,which is important to promote a new round of urban transformation and reform.This paper studies the correlation between urban compactness and ecological environment quality,aiming to realize the mutual promotion and coordinated development,so as to make the urban layout more compact and the urban environment more livable and suitable for life and work.Firstly,based on the theory of compact city and ecological city,combined with the core meaning of urban compactness and ecological environmental quality,based on PSR model,this research establishes the index system of urban compactness and ecological environmental quality and calculates the urban compactness and ecological environmental quality level of municipalities and provincial capitals in China by entropy weight method.Secondly,this research measures the coordinated development level of urban compactness and ecological environment quality through the coupling coordination degree model and explores whether there is a correlation of mutual promotion and harmonious development.Thirdly,based on the panel regression model,this paper constructs a functional model of the influencing factors of the coupling coordination degree between urban compactness and ecological environment quality,and explores the driving factors of the coupling coordination degree.The main inferences are as follows: first,from 2009 to 2019,The compactness of municipalities and provincial capitals in China increased gradually,but the growth rate slowed down and showed a trend of gradual decline,while the comprehensive level of ecological environment quality gradually decreased in the first and middle stages and improved in the later stages.Second,the coordination degree between the two systems of compactness and ecological environmental quality of municipalities and provincial capitals in China has increased,from reluctant coordination to primary coordination,mutual coordination has gradually increased,and the mutual promotion effect has become increasingly significant.Third,economic vitality,scientific and technological development level and infrastructure level have a positive role in promoting the coordination between urban compactness and ecological environmental quality,while population density and government intervention level have an inhibitory effect on the coordination between urban compactness and ecological environmental quality.Among them,the higher the level of economic vitality and infrastructure level,the more significant the positive role in promoting the coupling coordination.Finally,based on the empirical results,this paper puts forward some proposal from the macro,meso and micro levels to promote the benign interaction and coordination between urban compactness and ecological environment quality.
