The study of figures in the history of modern Chinese science has focused on groups of scientists,while little research has been done on modern non-scientist groups.The position of nonscientists and private institutions is also very important in the history of science communication in modern China.In the 1920 s and 1930 s,China ushered in a golden age of scientification.The work of the Shanghai Commercial Press in the field of scientific journals,books,and textbooks promoted the dissemination of science to the masses.Zhou Jianren,the third brother of Lu Xun,taught himself biology with the help of Lu Xun,and was a great contributor to Lu Xun’s unfinished path of biology.During his work in Shanghai Commercial Press,Zhou Jianren promoted the spread of evolutionary theory in China through translation and the Chineseization of biology through journals and textbooks.This paper is divided into five chapters.The first introductory chapter introduces the origin of the selected topic,research overview and significance of the study.Chapter 2 compares the stages of scientification in China since modern times,focusing on the characteristics of Chinesization and scientification in the 1920 s and 1930 s.It analyzes the connection between Sinicization and the scientific Sinicization proposed by Nature,and the connection between Scientology and the Chinese Scientology Movement,which changed the connotation of Chinese Scientology from Nature to the Chinese Scientology Movement,with inheritance and innovation.Also a comparative study of the characteristics of scientific communication in two comprehensive scientific journals,Nature and Science.Chapter 3 describes Zhou Jianren’s early life and how he taught himself biology with the help of Lu Xun.It also collates the translations and autographs of Zhou Jianren’s biology,which was centered on the theory of evolution.Chapter 4 examines the background and main authors of the founding of Nature,compiles Zhou Jianren’s biology articles in the magazine,and analyzes the magazine’s specific initiatives for the Chinesization of science.The fun science section of Nature had an influence on the scientific sketches in Taibai,and Zhou Jianren published many scientific sketches in Taibai.Zhou Jianren participated in the compilation of biology textbooks for primary and secondary schools in the Commercial Press to realize the Chineseization of biology textbooks in the Republic of China.The concluding section of Chapter 5 describes the main work of this paper.
