Medicine has always accompanied human civilization, and mankind in all ages has sought refuge in the constant search for the essence of medicine. The great ancient Greek medical scientist Hippocrates and his work The Hippocratic Anthology ushered in a great era of rational medicine in the history of medicine, based on the practice of empirical logical reasoning and medical clinical observation.Hippocrates’ tradition of medical thought focused on his understanding of the body, mind and nature, with the cure of the patient, not just the disease,as the ultimate clinical goal of medicine.Based on the forward-looking and scientific nature of this conception of medicine,Hippocrates’ medical tradition and humanistic ideals have gradually become important criteria and values to be pursued in the interaction between doctors and patients. At present, medical development is entering the era of artificial intelligence, and the study of intelligent medicine has become a focus of attention. However, while people are enjoying the convenience brought by the application of smart medicine,it has also revealed various ethical issues such as discrimination and bias against patients due to the black box of algorithms, violation of user data privacy, fairness and justice, and difficulty in defining responsibility. These revealed issues threaten and challenge the "patient-centred" Hippocratic medical tradition and medical practice, and urgently call for addressing the lack of ethical norms in smart medicine that ignore the unity of the patient’s body and mind, individual differences, and the spirit of medical humanism. This paper addresses these issues in four main sections. The first part is a study of Hippocrates and his medical contributions. The second part is a study of the Hippocratic tradition of medical thought and modern medical practice, which focuses on what the Hippocratic tradition is and what the Hippocratic tradition thought, and analyses the application and value of the Hippocratic tradition in modern medicine. The third part is a study of Hippocrates and intelligent medicine from the philosophical approach of science and technology, focusing on the ethical dilemmas that intelligent medicine needs to address and the potential risks and challenges that intelligent medicine poses to the Hippocratic tradition. The fourth part of the paper is about the reflection of intelligent medicine on Hippocratic clinical tradition. The paper discusses five aspects: returning to the Hippocratic spirit, adhering to the core value of human-centred clinical medicine, clarifying the auxiliary role of intelligent medicine in clinical practice, strengthening humanistic care, and regulating technological ethics. The study provides a research dimension and reference for the development of intelligent medicine.
