Hou Hsianglin’s Thoughts On Petroleum Life And Scientific Research Management

Petroleum is an important raw material for power fuel and chemical products.Our country has always lacked petroleum resources.After founding,the importance of constructing petroleum industry becomes more prominent as the nation attaches importance to industrial development.As a pioneer in the field of oil refining technology and petrochemical industry in China,Hou Hsianglin successively held important positions such as vice president of the Research Institute of Petrochemical Science,vice minister of Petroleum Industry,and member of the National Committee of the Chinese Political Consultative Conference.He graduated from the university at the age of 26 until the last moment of his life.For more than 70 years,he participated in the transformation of China’s oil refining technology,built the framework of China’s petroleum system and witnessed the development of China’s petroleum industry.His life reflects the development course of China’s petroleum industry from the side.Based on Hou Hsianglin’s life track,learning background,especially the change of work tasks after the founding of New China,this paper further discusses Hou Hsianglin’s academic achievements,scientific research contributions and ideological achievements,and finally discusses Hou Hsianglin’s work for the current development of Chinese petroleum enlightenment and reference significance.The article consists of introduction,text and conclusion.The text revolves around four aspects of Hou Hsianglin.Firstly,by introducing the urgency of the development of petroleum industry,it explores why Hou Hsianglin embarked on the road of petroleum.Secondly,taking the changes of the petroleum industry before and after Hou Hsianglin went abroad as the background,expounds Hou Hsianglin’s scientific and technological activities to promote the development of the petroleum industry’s contribution;Thirdly,the core of Hou Hsianglin’s science and technology management thought,"technology-economy-science" view,is extracted,and his practice activities under the guidance of this thought are discussed.Fourthly,discuss Hou Hsianglin’s concept of talent cultivation and his contribution in promoting scientific exchanges and popularization of science among people who work in oil.
