In the process of rapid urbanisation, urban habitats are slowly becoming fragmented and of low quality.Urban parks and green spaces,as an important part of the ecological value of cities, are becoming more and more demanding as the economy develops and people’s living standards increasingly improve. The most convenient way for citizens to get in touch with nature in urban life is to participate in the activities of urban parks. It is therefore particularly important to study the scientific layout of parkland in the city,to make use of limited land resources to improve quality and increase quantity,to meet the objective needs of the general public, and to ensure fairness in the enjoyment of parks by the public. This paper selects the green areas in the old city of Zhengzhou as the research object, and builds a database with vector data of park green areas, residential areas and road networks in the old city of Zhengzhou to construct a park green area system evaluation model.Based on the service radius, the accessibility concept and Arc GIS network analysis method are introduced to evaluate the accessibility of green spaces in the old city of Zhengzhou, and the results of the accessibility analysis are obtained. The problem is explored, and based on this, suggestions for optimising the layout of the green space system in the old city of Zhengzhou are put forward, with the final result proposing a targeted green space optimisation strategy. The main conclusions of this paper are as follows:(1)The accessibility level of parkland in the old city of Zhengzhou needs to be improved, and according to the more realistic and scientific network analysis of accessibility, the accessibility area based on the service radius of various types of parks accounts for 60.21%of the study area, which is different from the "Zhengzhou Urban Green Space System Planning(2013-2030)" mentioned in the 2020 to the central city of Zhengzhou park This is far from the 95% coverage rate of green space service radius in the central city of Zhengzhou by 2020 as mentioned in the Zhengzhou Urban Green Space System Plan(2013-2030).(2)There is a clear spatial imbalance in the layout of parkland in the old city, with research data showing that there are significant differences in the entropy values of parkland per unit of land and per capita, and that the spatial configuration of parkland in the old city varies significantly. The differences in the spatial layout of parkland in old urban areas are significant.(3)To increase the amount of parkland in the old city of Zhengzhou, priority should be given to the construction of small and micro green areas in the 15-minute accessibility blind zone,so as to make up for the shortcomings and improve the reasonable layout and accessibility coverage of parkland.(4)The improvement and optimisation of the current park green space in the old city should be people-centred,injecting the concept of open parks, increasing the number of entrances and exits, appropriately raising the proportion of hard activity areas, and enhancing the service functions of parks. The study of the optimal layout of green spaces in the old city of Zhengzhou is conducive to improving the urban functions of the old city, adding to its vitality, enhancing the happiness and quality of life of its residents, and providing a degree of decision-making support for future park construction by the government, making the distribution of parks more rational and humane, and making urban construction more harmonious and the urban environment more beautiful.
