In recent years, various regions have introduced various talent introduction policies, and the competition for talents has become intense. As an important indicator of regional development, higher education has an important impact on talent flow. The 14 five-year plan also gives important instructions on the direction and focus of the future development of higher education and talents. In the current academic circles,in the research on the relationship between higher education and talent attraction, many scholars only take higher education as one of many factors affecting talent flow, and do not separately analyze the impact and size of higher education on talent attraction.Starting from the above phenomena, this paper aims to study how the allocation of urban higher education resources affects the attraction of talents, and the impact of higher education resources on the attraction of talents in different stages and regions. In this regard, the following research has been carried out on this thesis:The first is to sort out the research status of higher education and talent attraction in China through literature review, define the essence and connotation of them, analyze the relevant theories, and analyze the mechanism between higher education resource allocation and talent attraction by using human capital theory,push-pull theory and education internal and external relationship theory,From the theoretical level, this thesis analyzes the direct effect of higher education on talent attraction and its indirect impact on urban talent attraction through its effect on economic development.Secondly, the data of 37 cities from 2010 to2019 are selected as samples, with the attraction intensity of urban talents as the explanatory variable, the level of development of higher education as an explanatory variable and the level of economic development as an intermediate variable, the economic development level as the intermediate variable, and the geographical environment, scientific research environment, social security and living convenience as the control variables.Through the design of a reasonable economic distance weight matrix,it is judged by relevant statistical tests,The spatial multi object model is selected to test the spatial effect. The level of economic development as a threshold variable, this thesis constructs a threshold model to test the threshold effect, and tests the role of higher education resources on talent attraction under different levels of economic development. Finally,The K-Means method is used to bundle talent attraction intensity, higher education development and economic development level.Through this study,we can draw the following conclusions: first, from 2010 to 2019,higher education development and economic development have obvious spatial spillover effects;Second, the level of economic development as a threshold variable, higher education has a threshold effect on talent attraction, and the effect of higher education investment on talent attraction is different under different economic levels. In areas with low economic development level, higher education investment has a greater impact on talent attraction;Third,Shenzhen is second to none in terms of investment in higher education, economic development and talent attraction, far surpassing other cities.
