Literature Research On "Yang Shen's Biography"

Yang Shen(1488-1559),courtesy name Yongxiu,pseudonym name Sheng'an,was born in Xindu,Sichuan.In the sixth year of Zhengde in the Ming Dynasty(1511),Yang Shen was the first scholar in Jinshi,and was awarded to Hanlin for writing.In the fourth year of Jiajing(1525),he was exiled to Yunnan for The Great Ritual Controversy,which had an important influence on the literary atmosphere in Yunnan.His writings in his life are very rich,including "Sheng'an Ji" and so on.Yang Shen's biographical materials are detailed and accurate.The records cover many aspects such as family history,imperial examinations,merits,communication,literature,and commentary.There has been a " Ming Dai Zhuang Yuan Shi Liao Hui Bian" to sort out some of the biographical literature related to Yang Shen.However,from the perspective of biography and philology,there is a lack of concentrated research on "Yang Shen's Biography".Therefore,taking "Yang Shen's Biography" and related biographical documents as the research objects,systematically sorting out Yang Shen's related biographical documents,sorting out the "Yang Shen Biography" genealogy with Jian Shaofang's "Zheng Guang lu xiang qian Han lin Xiu zhuan sheng an Yang Shen nian pu" as the main blueprint and the biographical image of Yang Shen in various biographies.Then,based on the biographical literature,explore the internal characteristics of Yang Shen's biography and the external characteristics that compare the "Biography of Gifted Scholars" with other biography of talented scholars,understanding Yang Shen's "erudite" characteristics.At the same time,attention is paid to the classification of "Yang Shen's Biography" in the official biography.Zhang Tingyu,as the finalist of the "Ming Shi",or out of consideration of Yang Shen's status in the literary world and emphasis on political achievements,chose to classify Yang Shen as "Lie zhuan" instead of "Wen yuan zhuan".The biographical image of Yang Shen is also extended to folk images,and the literati drama and legends are combined to discuss Yang Shen's images of genius,literati wonder,wisdom struggle,service to the people,noble personality,and extensive knowledge presented in folk literature,restoring a relatively rich personality Yang Shen,and discover Yang Shen's literati and doctor spirit of "knowing that he can't do it".Later,relying on the literature research to identify the inconsistencies between "Yang Shen's Biography" and other data records,to verify Yang Shen's deeds,literary influence,local relations and other aspects,and to have a more comprehensive understanding of Yang Shen's life deeds.
