The Appearance Of “Migrant Workers”

As a symbol system for recording and transmitting information,language is not only a tool to express expression and convey ideas,but also a "barometer" of the development of The Times and a "weathervane" of the changes of life.These catchwords have left vivid footnotes and rich expressions for the course of The Times.To some extent,the term "migrant worker" touches on the real situation of contemporary young people in the workplace.The author describes the image of young people in the workplace,focusing on young people aged 20-30,and digging out their working status and mental process.Through in-depth interviews,the author found that behind the self-deprecation of young professionals as "migrant workers" reflects their self-perception in the society.In the workplace,they have more and more similar characteristics with farmers who went to cities to work at the end of last century: The endless working hours squeeze a lot of their life time,but they do not have the corresponding harvest and satisfaction,humble as a mechanical screw.Many young people who live far away from their hometownface great pressure to take root in the new cities,and have to bear the burden of work,because once they let go,they will feel like duckweed,unable to settle down.Even teachers and civil servants who have an "iron rice bowl" in the system find it difficult to establish a deep emotional connection and identity with their work units.The identification of the "worker" ultimately points to the change of labor relations,that is,the relationship between the unit and the individual.On the one hand,the unit is no longer fully responsible for the personal life of the employee,and the relationship between the employee and the employee is no longer close.On the other hand,in the face of increasing life pressure,employees have to regard themselves as a rotating working machine,and only regard work as a means of making a living,without infinite reverence and love for the unit and work.
