The newsletters from Europe and America in Yu Zhou Feng developed dynamically with the change of war and editing division. Before the war,the newsletters were rich and systematic, and the writers, mainly overseas students, observed the Western world in a way that followed the logic of dualistic opposition between "the other" and "the self".From this dual perspective, they observed the social features of the West, contrasted the national characteristics of China and the West, and paid attention to the Chinese people in the Western society. In the painful experience of frustration of self-esteem,the backward national image of China was imagined with reference to the West.In the combination of Chinese and Western duality, the writer's value concept was centered on the west. While the "other" and the "ego" formed tension and opposition at the national level, the "nation" at the collective level and the "ego" at the individual level were also in conflict. In Yu Zhou Feng, the individual form presented in the communication between Europe and the United States was restrained by the two sides of individual desire and collective responsibility, and became a "swinging" individual. In the predicament of living in a foreign land, they blame the individual's suffering of living on the national identity.Returning to the home of Oriental spiritual civilization was a means for individuals to recover their sense of dignity and relieve their existential anxiety.Affected by the war,the number of the newsletters from Europe and America fell, and the magazine was divided into two.Under the leadership of Lin Hanlu, the newsletters from Europe and America in Journal A turned to promote the fight against war.The theme of World War II and national salvation dominated, and the discussion on individual disappeared, which reflected the concept of group and oneself that Chinese intellectuals put the collective first.Due to the editorial will and strict censorship environment, the newsletters from Europe and America led by Tao Kangde in Journal B,to a certain extent, continued the style of Resonableness before the war,and talked about the war in a subtle and peaceful way.In the difference of attitude towards Germany,Italy and Japan, the Western Centralism became more and more clear.By comparing the newsletters written by Chinese Americans with those written by international students,it can be found that the Western Centralism was rooted in the colonized mentality of international students, which led to their deformed worship of the West and distorted inferiority complex, which was essentially an irrational mentality.
