With the full embedding of digital technology,China has entered the era of "digital survival".Compared with the young "digital natives",the elderly are called "digital refugees" because of the differences in media contact and media use ability.In this context,in order to adapt to modern survival and meet the emotional needs of individuals,the elderly spare no effort to start a difficult process of media integration.In this process,wechat has become the beginning for the elderly to touch the Internet.Wechat reconstructs the emotional life and emotional satisfaction path of the elderly.From the personal level,wechat provides a virtual field for the emotional exchange and emotional performance of the elderly,from which they present their positive and trendy social image and obtain personal social capital.From the family level,the authority role of the elderly in intergenerational relations is gradually dispelled due to the collapse of omniscient status and the elimination of seniority,The media situation created by wechat with time-space separation and relative integration helps the elderly realize the re embedding of social relations.Based on the ERG theory,this paper analyzes the specific emotional needs of the elderly when using wechat by using questionnaire survey and in-depth interview.It is found that different from Maslow's hierarchy of needs theory,the emotional needs of the elderly when using wechat do not exist progressive relationship,but the horizontal coexistence of different emotional needs.At the same time,this paper believes that the emotional needs of the elderly when using wechat are satisfied in the aspects of cognition,social interaction and value.The use of wechat by the elderly has promoted the prosperity of "silver economy",but the problems of over selling emotion and ignoring emotional factors in product design come in droves,resulting in the limitation of emotional satisfaction of the elderly when using wechat.For example,excessive marketing and selling threaten the most basic survival needs of the elderly,the use of binary opposition prototype to stir up emotions leads to the negative emotional flow of the elderly,and the lack of emotional design level.Therefore,the design of wechat products for the elderly should fully consider their physiological needs and strengthen the connection between them.At the same time,cultural capital should be injected into the products to meet the reflective emotional needs of the elderly.
