According to i Research's latest research report on the digital reading industry, the number of online literature users in China has grown from 380million(in 2017)to 470 million(in 2019),with more than 30 percent of users under 24 years old.According to user research reports on leading platforms such as QQ Reading and Jinjiang Literature City,post-00 s readers have developed the habit of reading online, and female readers have become the main force of online reading.Based on this phenomenon, this paper makes an in-depth report.First of all,the term“teenage girl readers”(“????”)in this paper is defined as:women readers between the ages of 13 and 18(some of them are 19 years old),who have not had adult education and are unmarried in their marital status. That is to emphasize the social attributes and school age of the target group, rather than the biological age. This design adopts in-depth interview and participatory observation as the main research method, supplemented by questionnaire survey method.First, through the stories of Yang Xiaoyu(pseudonym)and Hu Chao(pseudonym),the paper presents the world of “young readers” in online literature, focusing on the opportunity of their contact with online literature and the process of their “addiction” to online literature. It then tells the story of Gu Xiao(pseudonym)and Yu Shanshan(pseudonym),showing their unsuccessful attempts to break free of their addiction to reading online articles, and revealing other possible triggers of their “failure to escape” experience:the absence of parents and school discipline, platform protection policy to carry out the loopholes in teenagers. At the end of the article,it focuses on the process of young readers' re-attempt to leap from virtual text to the real world. In their struggle to “quit” the addiction of online literature, there are myths and anxieties about their personal real and virtual identities.Compared with similar reports, the innovation of this paper lies in the following two points. The first is to focus on the addiction of teenage readers to online articles, and to highlight the struggle process of teenage readers to get rid of their addiction to online articles on their own,and to reveal their lack of ability to pull away from virtual texts due to their young age despite their efforts. The other is to adopt the way of group voice to let more readers of other ages know the reason why young female readers flock to online articles, and pay more attention and understanding to this group. The design of this study still has some shortcomings and can be improved.Due to the respect for the personal wishes of interviewees and the limitation of COVID-19 epidemic prevention needs,we failed to conduct offline interviews with some minor interviewees. The facts and pictures obtained were difficult to be as rich and vivid as the offline interviews. At the same time, due to the limitation of time and personal ability, the research design only carried out observation and investigation for half a year, which is still insufficient to investigate the long-term and far-reaching impact of web articles on young girls.
