| The combination of Internet technology and the publishing industry has produced a series of products,including online audio books.With its huge market and user scale,China’s audiobook platform has already occupied a place in the publishing industry.In addition,a survey shows that the willingness of readers to pay for audiobooks is increasing,and it is foreseeable that audiobooks will have a wider audience in the future.A wider audience means that audiobooks will exert greater influence,so it is worth exploring the logic of how this influence works on the readers.Of course,this kind of influence is not unidirectional,and accordingly,how are editors affected and how should they respond.This is the problematic awareness of this study.Editors’ influence on readers is actually achieved through editorial power.And editors exert influence on readers through editing activities,which is what editorial power is all about.Starting from the theory of media power,this article discusses the applicability of the theory to this article,and further introduces the connotation of editorial power in terms of the publishing field,modes of expression,two pairs of power relation,and the problem of power alienation that tends to arise.Guided by this theoretical framework,this article studies the case of Qingting FM in Chapter 3.First,it introduces the basic situation of Qingting FM from three aspects: market position,personnel composition and content production mode,and also reflects the typicality of the case from the side.Then,the paths of editorial power are explained in terms of the expressions of topic planning,selection,editorial processing,and review decision,and its connotations are added from the perspective of the relationship between the exerciser and the target of editorial power.Based on the above case to analyze and summarize,the fourth chapter of this article focuses on comparing the similarities and differences between audiobook platforms editorial power and traditional publishing editorial power,and finds that there are different variations of its audiobook platform editorial power from different perspectives.In terms of expression,editorial power has been strengthened;however,in terms of two pairs of power relation,editorial power has been converged.And the main reasons for these differences are media differences,different product strategies,and shifts in editorial roles.Based on this difference,this article concludes by examining the impact of editorial power on audiobook platforms on editors and editors’ coping strategies.It is worth noting that editorial power is a structural power that exists objectively,but only has different effects on audiences depending on who exercises it.Therefore,this article describes the effects of editorial power on editors in both positive and negative terms,arguing that the positive effects mainly motivate editors to further develop their subjectivity,while the negative effects may produce problems of editorial power alienation such as misalignment,overstepping,and lack of position.Similarly,in response,editors need to take the initiative to promote the formation of a constraint mechanism while using existing editorial power,respect the power of authors and readers,and grasp the scale of editorial power realization,so as to bring into play the positive value of editors and editorial power. |
