5G mobile communication system includes multiple frequency bands.In this paper,single-band and dual-band antennas are studied concentrating on several main frequency bands of 5G wireless communication system,and four practical antenna elements and arrays covering different frequency bands with great performances are designed.The first antenna is an element of magneto-electric dipole structure,which covers two frequency bands of 3.4 GHz-3.6 GHz and 4.8 GHz-5.0 GHz.The impedance bandwidth with VSWR less than 1.5 exceeds 200 MHz in two frequency bands respectively,and radiation patterns are stable,which with advantages of low backlobe radiation,low cross-polarization and nearly identical E-plane and H-plane patterns.The gain over the band of 3.4 GHz-3.6GHz is about 8.4 d Bi and over the band of 4.8 GHz-5.0 GHz is about 7.8 d Bi.The second is a 1×8 dipole antenna array with SIW power splitter as the feeding network.The array is operating at 28 GHz,with the impedance bandwidth with VSWR less than 1.5 is about 2 GHz.The structure of the array is vertical with the height of 30.81 mm.The radiation patterns of the array has characteristics of low sidelobe radiation,low backlobe radiation and low cross-polarization.Across the operating bandwidth,the gain is about 11.0 d Bi.The third is a 1×8 patch antenna array with SIW slot array as the main feeding network,and 8 rectangular patches as the radiation elements.The array is operating at 29.5 GHz,with the impedance bandwidth with VSWR less than 1.5 is about 900 MHz.The array is a multilayer structure with height of about 0.714 mm.The array has the advantages of low backlobe radiation and low cross-polarization as well.Across the operating bandwidth,the gain is about 12.0 d Bi.The last antenna is a 3.5/28 GHz MIMO antenna,which is a dual-band dual-polarization antenna consisting of two monopole pairs and four 2×4 slot arrays.The operating frequency of the monopoles is 3.5 GHz,while the impedance bandwidth with VSWR less than 1.5 is about 200 MHz.The operating frequency of slot antenna array is 28 GHz,while the impedance bandwidth with VSWR less than 1.5 exceeds 500 MHz.The antenna has stable radiation patterns in two directions over two frequency bands.The gain over the band of 3.5GHz is about 8.0 d Bi and over the band of 28 GHz is about 13.0 dBi.
