In January 2016,Tongling City experienced the largest administrative division adjustment since its establishment, and the restructuring system of Zongyang County under the former Anqing City was transferred to Tongling City.Tongling and Zongyang, located on the north and south banks of the Yangtze River, began to gradually move from "facing each other" to "merging." In the past five years, the social facts generated by the change of the institutional context of "Zongyang's merging into Tongling" have caused major changes in the form, function and structure of urban space, and the relationship between space and space has been rewritten. These changes and social changes are mutually cause and effect, which involve the flow process of various relations in the categories of time and space, reconstructing a dynamic and relational city with people as the core. This article introduces the theory of social space, with the construction of the sense of place and group identity of the people of the two places as the main line, through participatory observation,in-depth interviews and questionnaires, researches on the process of social integration in the context of administrative division adjustments,in order to examine the "relationship" The connection between communication and society at the level."Zongyang's merging into Tongling" takes place in the context of the current urbanization process in China. It is the result of the re-allocation of resources in Tongling,Zongyang, and Anqing from the perspective of regional integrated and balanced development. It has strategic significance at the macro level. With the adjustment of administrative divisions in 2016 as the dividing line,Zongyang disconnected from the thousand-year-old historical connection with Anqing, and was included in the emerging mining immigrant city Tongling.Since then,Tongling has carried out a new round of functional zoning and spatial layout to facilitate the integrated development of north and south, echoing the shift in spatial strategy from "development along the river" to "development according to the river." In the past,Tongling and Zongyang, which were "across the river",moved towards the integrated development pattern of "North-South integration" today. From the perspective of social space, the equilibrium state of "North-South integration" is far from being reached.First of all,the difference in social relations between the two places makes people entering Tongling from Zongyang go through a process from a rural society to an urban society.Second, the reorganization of the urban transportation network, the expansion of public cultural spaces, and the re-adjustment of some regional administrative divisions have prompted changes in the way people perceive, experience, and use space, forming new relationships, and social integration is slowly advancing in a gradual manner. Finally, for all groups,"how to understand the city" affects their attitude towards "Zongyang's merging into Tongling",which subjectively influences the realization of North-South integration. From perception to understanding to identification with a place is a process of gradual integration of experience, culture, and memory, which promotes the flow of emotions. In this process, subjective and objective factors such as geographic relations, cultural schemas, personal experiences, era background, media, and social frameworks act on the subject to varying degrees, affecting their perspective of understanding the place. For most people in both places, the spatial experience, cultural genes, collective memory, and symbolic symbols rooted in a specific place still maintain their imagination, identification and attachment to the place. The objective facts of Zongyang's merging into Tongling are not fundamental. In order to change their subjective emotional belonging and meaning production, the "hometown" and "home" are misplaced with reality in their understanding."Zongyang's merging into Tongling" has changed the established social background, and individuals in it will inevitably have to face the uncertainty of the external world and the uncertainty of themselves. The people of the two places eliminate uncertainty by choosing and identifying the relationship between themselves and the group they belong to,and actively respond to the group belonging to the definition of rights. In the process of changing the old and new identities, the continuous interaction between "us" and "them" constitutes a threat to the continuation of the group's intrinsic values and fundamental emotions. This is more directly reflected in the people of Zongyang. The changes in the relationship between groups due to interaction have prompted the people of Zongyang to construct a mixed identity. As the foundation of social existence, communication are always at the center of relationship construction and meaning generation, and promote the continuous renewal and forward development of the city. This article finally analyzes the issue of North-South integration after Zongyang's merging into Tongling from the perspective of urban communication, advocates respect for the differences between the two places, and starts a dialogue around the differences, creates a new flow relationship, and constructs a happy and shared urban community.
