| The kingdom of Cambodia is one of the important members of ASEAN,which is of great significance to China.In 2016,in perfect sympathy with each other,General Secretary Xi Jinping,published the article entitled "being a good neighbor and true friend" in the Kampuchea media,emphasizing the friendship between China and Cambodia.Under the situation of confrontation between China and the United States,the support and understanding of ASEAN countries,including Cambodia,will help us safeguard our legitimate rights and interests and create a safe and favorable surrounding environment for China's peaceful rise.This paper chooses to observe and study the kingdom of Cambodia from the performance of Cambodian media in the general election,and analyzes the reports of influential Cambodian media on Cambodia's 2018 Prime Minister election,in order to deepen the understanding of the media ecology and democratic politics of the kingdom of Cambodia.This paper takes Cambodia's Phnom Penh Post and Fresh News as the research objects,analyzes their performance in Cambodia's 2018 election reports,and dissects the relationship between Cambodian election politics and the media.This paper is divided into five chapters.The first chapter describes the research object,research background and significance.At the same time,it also gives a brief introduction to Cambodia's election history and media situation.The third chapter uses the method of frame analysis to analyze the contents of Cambodia's 2018 general election reported by the Phnom Penh Post and Fresh News.The fourth chapter summarizes the characteristics of the two media in reporting Cambodia's 2018 general election according to the analysis in the third chapter,and finds that the Phnom Penh Post has a negative attitude towards the general election,the people's party and the National Salvation Party;Fresh News has a positive attitude towards the general election,the people's party,and a critical attitude towards the National Salvation Party.In the general election,different media have different emotional tendencies and reporting styles.The fifth chapter dissects the relationship between Cambodian domestic media and the election.It is found that the degree of political media in Cambodia is low;the role of media in the general election is limited;in the general election pattern of Cambodia,political power suppresses media power.Cambodia's 2018 general election lacks debate and confrontation in the media,which is not a real sense of modern democracy.In addition,the Phnom Penh Post and fresh news both showed obvious elitism in their reports,reflecting that Cambodia's democratic politics is essentially elitist politics,and elites,especially the ruling party elites,hold the right to speak. |
