| China's economic have been through a rapid development,artificial intelligence as a new dynamic energy which can provide a strong impetus for China's industrial upgrading and structural transformation.Chinese government also actively introduces relevant AI development strategies to guide the deep integration of the three major industries with AI technology and drive industrial upgrading which can promote industrial structure upgrading and ensure high-quality growth of China's economy.In this paper,the impact of AI on China's industrial structure upgrading is studied both theoretically and empirically using AIrelated indicators.Firstly,through theoretical analysis,this paper finds that AI can promote industrial structure upgrading through human capital effect,technological innovation effect and labor productivity effect,and the main way is through combining with three major industries to improve product supply,promote consumption and improve industrial competitiveness,and finally promote industrial structure upgrading.Then this paper draws on the method of previous studies to measure industrial structure upgrading through industrial structure advanced and industrial structure rationalization,but different from previous scholars' single portrayal of industrial structure advanced index,this paper takes Yuan Hang's approach to subdivide industrial structure advanced into quality and quantity of industrial structure advanced for separate measurement.Provincial and municipal panel data from 2009-2017in China are used to study the impact of artificial intelligence on industrial structure upgrading.It is found that AI has a significant impact on the quality and quantity of industrial structure advanced in China,as well as a significant impact on the rationalization of industrial structure.The paper then proceeds to conduct a mediating effect test on the mechanism analysis of the theoretical part,and the empirical test analysis concludes that the human capital effect,technological innovation effect and labor productivity effect which have a significant impact on the quality of industrial structure advancement,and the technological innovation effect has a significant impact on industrial structure rationalization.At the same time,according to the heterogeneity test,AI has a significant effect on the quality of advanced industrial structure in eastern China and a significant effect on the quantity of advanced industrial structure in western China.Finally,according to the current situation of AI development in China combined with the empirical test results,this paper argues that China should actively promote the development of AI technology while reasonably focusing on the transfer arrangement of laborers and increasing education and training;meanwhile,we should accelerate the integration of AI with the three major industries in China to drive industrial upgrading,and promote the upgrading of China's industrial structure. |
