Currently,the fifth-generation mobile communication(5G)is the most popular technology in the communication field.5G is the extension after 4G,which not only includes communication technology,but also involves more application scenarios of the Internet of Things.Therefore,in order to occupy the commanding heights in the field of 5G and master more discourse power,all countries and communication institutions around the world are vigorously developing 5G technology and formulating 5G international standards.Patent is the key indicator of the technical development level of a country and a communication organization,and it is the most effective carrier of technical information.Fully excavate 5G patent data and analyze its hidden technological development and technological evolution law,which is of great significance to the formulation of national 5G policies and enterprise5 G technological innovation.In order to explore the technology evolution of 5G in depth,this research is based on the 5G patent data in the Derwent patent database,using methods such as patent citation analysis,social network analysis,main pathways analysis,and cluster analysis.At the level,conduct a comprehensive and in-depth study on the technology evolution pathways of 5G.First of all,on the basis of summarizing the technology evolution and 5G research,this research constructs a technology evolution analysis framework based on patent citation analysis,and conducts research from two levels of patent layout and technology evolution.Secondly,with the help of tools such as python and excel to process patent data,conduct patent measurement analysis on it,and comprehensively analyze the overall layout of 5G patents,predict the life cycle of 5G,and lay the foundation for subsequent research on the technology evolution pathways.Then,with the help of pajek,the citation network is constructed from the three levels of patents,regions,and institutions.And the centrality analysis,cluster analysis and dynamic main pathways identification of the citation network are carried out to comprehensively and multi-dimensionally analyze the technology evolution pathways of 5G.Finally,according to the obtained research results,some suggestions are provided for the development of China's 5G from five aspects.The research shows that:According to the acquired data,through the research of 5G patent layout,it is found that: From the perspective of patent timing distribution,5G patent research began in 1976 and ushered in an explosive period in 2014.At present,5G technology is already in the stage of technological maturity.From the perspective of regional distribution of patents,5G patents are mainly distributed in China,the United States,South Korea,Japan,Sweden and other regions.In the early stage,5G patents are mainly distributed in the United States and Japan.In the mid-and late stage,the number of patents in China and South Korea is increasing rapidly,5G patents are mainly distributed in the China,United States and South Korea.From the perspective of the distribution of patent institutions,5G patents are mainly distributed in communications companies such as Huawei,Samsung,LG,Ericsson,and Qualcomm.Discovered through research on the technology evolution pathways of 5G: From the perspective of patents,Patent numbers WO2011069295-A1,US2007287384-A1,WO2011109941-A1 and other patents are the core patents in the technology evolution of 5G.It is easier to produce technical exchanges between patents with the same technical subject.The main pathways of patent evolution mainly involves communication transmission,wireless communication network and antenna technology.From the regional level,China,the United States,South Korea,Japan are the core countries leading the evolution of 5G technology,Among them,the United States and Japan have close exchanges,And formed two main pathways of regional evolution,which are "U.S-JapanU.S" and "U.S-Japan-France-China".From the institutional level,Communications companies such as Huawei,Samsung,Qualcomm,Ericsson,and Nokia play an important role in the technology evolution of 5G.And formed three main pathways of institutional evolution,which are "Kyocera-American Telephone and Telegraph","Nokia/Huawei-ZTEIntel-Samsung-Huawei-Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications" and "Samsung/Nokia-Nokia/Ericsson-Qualcomm-Kyocera-LG-Huawei/Intel".
