Manually Curated Experimental Supported CncRNA And Online Resource Construction

BackgroundcncRNA(coding and noncoding RNA)is a bifunctional RNA that has both protein-coding and non-coding functions.Many studies have shown that cncRNAs play an important role in biological activities ranging from bacteria to humans.However,a comprehensive database for well organizing and storing cncRNAs is still lacking.Here,we collected the published cncRNA and developed cncRNAdb,which aims to help more and more researchers to analyze and identify the characteristics of cncRNA,develop the algorithms to predict cncRNA,accelerate the structural and functional research of cncRNA,clarify the mechanism of cncRNA.MethodThe experimentally supported cncRNAs were manually curated from peer-reviewed literature,furthermore,we also collected 504 translated IncRNAs from the SmProt and 53 translated circRNAs from the circRNADb databases.All the cncRNAs were unified by mapping to the Ensembl database(Ensembl gene ID).The annotation information such as sequence,RNA-related interaction information,subcellular localization information and related disease information were further collected to form of cncRNAdb.ResultThe current version of cncRNAdb records 2598 manually curated entries of cncRNA(before July 2020),involving 2,002 RNAs(including 1,358 translated ncRNAs and 644 untranslated mRNAs)across 21 species.The translated ncRNA covers 1200 lncRNAs,67 circRNAs,56 UTRs,15 pri-miRNAs,7 sRNAs and 13 rRNAs,the untranslated mRNA covers 31 regulatory mRNAs,482 scaffold mRNAs and 141 sponge mRNAs.ConclusionThe cncRNAdb is a complete integrated cncRNA data resources platform,all experimentally supported cncRNAs were corrected by artificial screening.The cncRNAdb is available at:http://www.rna-society.org/cncrnadb/.
